Just had the rear crossmember bushings, rear strut rods, all the seals in the rear, and all 6 u joints along with the rear calipers, all 8 front arm bushings, and front wheel bearings.... I flew up and drove it today... it tracks straight when you jamb on the brakes at 60 and the engine runs out nicely to 5500, doesn't rattle on washboard roads and everything works including windshield washers...

IT will clean and preserve EXTREMELY WELL...

Very nice. A friend of mine had one just like it when we were in school, except his had side pipes. He removed the original LT1 engine and installed a hot rod 350, then sold the car a few years later. The new owner didn't want the original LT1 engine, so it was sold to a Corvette shop that I think was in Chicago area. I loved the color on that car, and the sound from the side pipes at 6000 RPM was great.

Neighbor across the street has a 2-top twin to this. We have known each other since high school and I remember riding around in it in the 70's. Great car and goes like stink. His has sidepipes also and sounds great. You are going to love it.

Wow. Wished I'd have known. Could have met for lunch or something. Sounds like a quick trip.

I've probably seen that car at some local shows.

If you need me to go over and check anything out on it let me know. Xenia is ~ 5 miles from my house.

MARK...
I considered the Carroll Street car as I like Hunter Green and Camel, I had a Z71 Tahoe in the color combo back in 95. However it appears to have been painted and is missing the T.I., although it has really nice original camel comfort weave seats and is fairly priced. It would be a bear off the line though with 3.55 - if it REALLY has a M21.

Nice thing about a 'Vette is you can swap the pig out in about an hour and be running a different set of gears. Drop the rear spring, half shafts and drive shaft and swap it out.

You should think about a strut rod spacer. Helps the tires during the "vette squat".

The roadster I looked at had strut rods with opposing threads and ends(not heim joints just threaded eyes with poly-bushings - I don't recall jambnuts but there had to be, right?), I figured something like this would probably be a good investment. (IT has brand new strut rods AND BUSHINGS)

It's going to be fun detailing it and preserving it.

I am looking for a pair of original seats,

The gentleman I purchased it from had about $1500 worth of Al Knoch covers foam and then had the seat frames cleaned and repaired, the tracks, degreased and then relubed -- all done at I think it was Eastern Corvettes.

The work order for the seats was ludicrous.

My only question was... DID you keep the original covers? NO...

I would gladly trade the seats for someone's good original seats.

Some thing closer to the pair in the lower photo... the comfort weave can be cleaned.

Congrats James. It looks like you opted to not drive it home. I like the look of the seats in it, looks like a nice job, not too bloated.

The VIN 21783 is 18 from the LAST 1971 Corvette - (21801) is the end... Who knows maybe the last 71 LT1 built?

Car arrived by enclosed transport this morning...
Some details...
The original painted stripe on the hood is not consistent in width AT ALL...
3rd PHOTO shows overspray mist coming from the corner of the lower stripe DUE TO ill applied tape/mask. Also shows nice surface texture of slight orange peel.
OK under the original paint in the pass door latch area.
MK rad tag -
RF ink stamp on the original 950 alternator.
Chalk markings on the frame rails behind each rear wheel by the body mounts....

Lacquer Checking, but still has nice slight orange peel surface, thank god someone never tried to CUT the paint and polish the car . I am going to contact the man who owned it from 1973 to 2016, he lives in the Cinci - Loveland Ohio area.
