Lot S81.1 at Mecum Dallas this weekend is a Fathom Green with black top and 4 speed 69 COPO Chevelle. According to the write up for the auction it has an original build sheet and installment sales contract, but those aren't posted. Does this car below to anybody here or do any of you know anything about it? This is a new car to me and I don't see it in the registry. I was just curious if anybody knows what dealership it is from or knows any history on it.

Thanks,
Myron

There are some false representations about the car. The motor is not original. I asked to see the paperwork never was produced. Many incorrect items. Body appeared to be all original, floors, and the rear.

I was looking for info on it last week too but never got anywhere concrete before moving on to other things.
Whether this subject vehicle is all info suggests or not may still be up for debate but most cars w/ weak auction descriptions are as such for a reason also more facts w/ substance would be included if all truly genuine.

… Remember "matching number" motor

… does NOT MEAN "Original" matching number motor :scholar:

:rolleyes2:

I asked Mecum if they could post the build sheet and NCRS report in the add for the car or e-mail me a copy and they replied that if I was a registered bidder and came to the auction I could view the paperwork. If anyone from here goes to the auction get the VIN and see what you can find out about this car.

Thanks,
Myron

I asked Dave (A12Pilot) to see if he can find out the deal on the "numbers matching" with this car. He's at the auction this week. I'll report back if there is any information obtained.

This was sent to me by PM-Interesting from a newbie

I saw your post about the mecum Dallas Copo
I am a registered bidder and they sent me ALL of the docs and close up pics of the motor, trans, rear and other components....all are real...just an FYI... before you and the others make comments on something that you don't have information on...also sent to WOJ

I asked if OUTPUT was going to publish the photos that he was given. No response as of yet. I think you'd have to be there in person to see before making a judgement. I won't make any derogatory comments (rarely do) regarding the message, or the car. I know we'd all love to see the photos.

I did receive some pictures of this car, but they are too large to post. There was a large signboard next to the car with pictures of the build sheet, NCRS report and drivetrain stamps and casting numbers. The VIN of this car is 136379B412598 and the body number was 282999. It is an 07E car and according to the NCRS report is was sold by Norwood Motor Company in Warwick RI. I'm no expert when it comes to the validity of trim tags, build sheets or drivetrain stamps so I will leave the judgement on those to others. I did not know of this car prior to the auction and have found no history on it. If anyone wants to see any of the photos I received I would be glad to forward them along.

Vin tag looks odd. Must have been a few different Baltimore tags used.

… Does that build sheet say that it is a 396/375 motor ?
… with "copo transmission and copo wheels" ?
… or is it a 427 copo motor :dunno:

pretty sure the L78 call out is standard, then if you check below the options columns toward the left, you see the "9566aa" which is the code indicating a conversion at the factory to the 427 engine among other copo features (i.e. suspension) . I don't know about copo transmission, copo wheels.
