Neat car. Is it true that some L79s were not stamped with partial VINs? I had thought all the hi-performance SBs and BBs had the partial VIN stamp but I'm not savvy enough to know if there were any documented exceptions.

I'd say hmmmmmmm.

I hate the use of language like mistakes happened and anything could happen it has to be said.

Small Block Chevy engines GENERALLY did not get anything beyond the Tonawanda Assembly Date Stamp on the engine pad with the exception of the "considered" high Hp Small Blocks like the L-79., which got the partial vin stamp also.

I'm speaking of 1966 here because that's the car posted.

Yes, Big Block 396 engines in 66 Chevy got the Tonawanda Assembly Date Stamp. At Tonawanda. Then Engine shipped to assembly plant for meet up with car and stamped there for partial vin. This is for USA Big Block Chevy, not Canada.

Others may have additional information to share and of course that's always welcome

I owned a documented 1966 L79 Nova SS that was built in Oshawa Ontario. The car had the GM of Canada documentation proving its authenticity. The pad had the engine code on it but no partial VIN. I also have an early L79 short block from a long ago wrecked Acadian in my garage and it does not have a partial VIN on it either. I believe this is correct for all Canadian L79 cars.
If I remember correctly, all the cars in the Canadian L79 registry do not have partial VIN's on them. Not sure about cars built in the US.

I had an April of 1966 Nova L79 engine that had a partial vin stamped on it.

I had a Willow Run 66 L-79 Nova and the partial vin was individually stamped on the pad.

This cool Ed Stinn car has been relisted again...would love to own it. Odd seeing a car with this sort of race history running a set of exhaust manifolds....

I had a Willow Run 66 L-79 Nova and the partial vin was individually stamped on the pad.

They also have the hidden VIN on the cowl flange on the drivers side. Mine has two.

Back on the market, again, for $79,950. Sounds like this car had been purchased on Ebay a few years back for a great price...but it also sounds as though a good bit of resto work has been done since that time.
