offering up my 69 ZL1 engine for sale. local pick up with cash only unless something is worked out between us. I originally bought it to use in a 69 L88 vette that I had and ended up selling the car. so this has been sitting around for many many years. please ask any questions if you are a serious buyer.

price $20,000.00

Perhaps you could post a picture of the front pad block stamping and the area of the block near the oil filter. Has the block and heads had any prior repairs (welding)?

Am I seeing things or is this actually 618 ? I didn't think the Over the counter engines had anything in this area...

I don't think so. 30 years ago we sprayed a little light dusting of paint to see if anything would show up and didn't see anything. but you never know what someone else can spot that you miss. not sure I can today, but I will get a magnifying glass and a light and look again.

I would say its nothing above the oil filter. It has been my experience that when the aluminum blocks were stamped in that area the stamp is very deep because generally speaking they hit the hammer as hard for aluminum as they did for the cast iron resulting in deeper characters. The real original ZL1 Camaro engines I have been fortunate enough to inspect thru the years have the deeper stamps.

I agree and you can see the stamping on the engine pad is well stamped

Yes much easier to spot VINS on aluminum than the cast iron blocks for sure.

The VIN on the motor from my original ZL1 was very clear and gangstamped .. although I’ve seen original ZL1’s with VINs hand stamped on the deck also
