This is an exceptional '67 with the right engine option. The 360hp engine option was pretty docile on the street but surprisingly fast....
Not the most popular color out there, but the bidding is already strong, no doubt due to the quality of the restoration.

Beautiful car and restoration. Wonder why, with the extent of the restoration, they didnt finish it off by putting the smog equipment back on.

Vern - as that was a "Z" car would that have come with smog equipment even in '67? BTW, I wonder why with such a nice resto they put oversized TRACTOR tires on that sweet lil goat!!! ;>))

----My understanding of 67 GM smog practices (and I could be wrong) is that smog was not necessary until Jan. 1st 1967. After that, it was mandated on the engines that needed them in California only. Other states had smog systems available as on option thru out the 67 model year...….Bill S

That very well could be Bill, I’m not sure either.
I sold a Fremont 67 GTO last year that I owned for over 30 years that was mostly original and had the original smog system on it. I’d have to go back and look at the build date to see if it was before or after 1/1. If you’re right it would be after.
I think 67 was the first year of engine emissions?

----Vern,,,Of course there was some rudimentary stuff but you are correct. I had a 67 California delivered 442 that still had 80% of the original smog stuff in the trunk. I think it was an April car. The rest of the parts were nearly impossible to find. I remember some one telling me that the law went into effect in California on January 1st so all the OEM's had to be ready before hand. California was a huge sales outlet for new cars around that time......Bill S

There was smog equipment before '67. I looked at a nice unmolested 1966 GTO from California a few years ago. It had factory 3x2 intake with SMOG......

Yup, I had A.I.R. on my '66 GS 4-speed convertible, sold new in CA.

----Well,,,There you go. Sorry for any confusion. I can't remember any 66 delivered car with smog but then I have forgotten more than most...….Bill S

Charley-YES. It was in a collection here in Seattle, and the owner passed on. Went out east to a brother or cousin. Neat car, but received a substandard repaint sometime after you and Bob had it.

My car had the smog (AIR Air Injector Reactor) equipment from the factory. It still had the red AIR sticker on the radiator support by the battery also.
First time I’ve heard it was on CA cars in 66. Interesting.

Absolutely smog on 66's in California. But not every car assembled at the Fremont Plant was sold in California., some shipped to neighboring states where SMOG was not a legal requirement.....and this likely contributes to some confusion over this.

----I think I was a year off in my statement above. Should have been January 1st 1966. Old age sucks!......Bill S
