2019 Chevy Blazer RS based on the 2019 Camaro, a "Performance Crossover". I think the looks are ok, not bad. They really don't go into the performance side too much in the article. Interior definably shows some Camaro providence.

I have to imagine it wasn't supposed to be this way. There have been rumblings from inside Chevrolet for years that the automaker was planning a sporty new midsized crossover to compete with the Ford Edge. Inspired by the Chevrolet Camaro, this new crossover was supposed to do for the CUV what the Ford Mustang did for muscle cars—jump-start a new branch of its segment that younger buyers would flock to. I bet you names like "Camaro Cross" were bandied about—new names for a new vision. And then Chevy went ahead and undid all that hard work by naming its CUV the Blazer. That's too bad, because the surrounding controversy from bringing that beloved nameplate back from the dead has distracted from what the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer RS is: a shockingly good crossover.

The Camaro front end refresh is being rushed into production for 2020 to fix the 2019 styling debacle on the SS.

I sat in one the other day and the inside was ok. It was not the RS but I think a premier. Sticker was around 50. They might have trouble selling that the way the front end looks.

I would be interested in the performance end of it. I will be downsizing from my wife’s Yukon Denali XL. There is nothing performance in the smaller suv world. I miss the trailblazer SS!

If you look at the blazer image posted above you see a desert landscape in the background and midwest farmland complete with rolling hills grass and leafy trees in the reflection on the side of the blazer.

I'll keep my 1978 K5 Blazer. I have never been a fan of crossovers especially automakers trying to make them performance oriented. Maybe I'm old school but performance belongs on cars not trucks, crossovers, or suv's. I think Chevy should have built what they now are going to call a Blazer as a smaller Tahoe, meaning a body on frame of the Colorado pick-up.

I bought a BMW X3 3 years ago when I started having alot of hip trouble and the Accord I had was killing me. Nice height car to get in and out of and the 300 horse and go cart handling makes it fun to drive. And the best seat I have ever sat in.
What I find odd with any of these, who in the world is taking them off road? I see several with air suspensions, and you know those will eventually have problems. Some of the jeeps had trouble when they were brand new. There are several commercials where they are running around in the desert.

That car is being built in Mexico and I hope it tanks. I just got idled at my plant at Lordstown Ohio and think something like that could have been given to the plant I worked at. People need to read the vin numbers and understand where these cars are being built. If they don't sell they will not keep building them or hopefully consider bringing them back in the US where they belong. I and my Dad have both had long careers at GM and it is sad the direction this company has taken and the position they have put myself and others in to consider transferring to other plants leaving our family and friends to start all over again.

By the looks of it perhaps Chevy abandoned the idea of a Camaro SUV and resurrected the Blazer name instead only to have Ford steal the MOJO.

To me, and my opinion only, every crossover looks the same and if you held a gun to my head I probably couldn't tell one from another unless I saw the badge.

Whatever happened to daring styling? Something that stood out from the rest. I get that the crossover realm doesn't lend itself to a lot of different styling easily, but good night, can't someone do something that isn't exactly like the other?

Well it is official. Now GM has a couple of years to watch sales of the mustang SUV and then consider what to do with the Camaro name plate.

Try the Tahoe RST with the 6.2 - or for the same money a Yukon Denali. The 6.2 makes a world of difference over the 5.3.

Is there any way that you could pull up to a guy charging his and borrow the cable for a while?? Maybe they shut off when unplugged. Seems like these cars will ruin driving anywhere on vacation. If they get 350 miles a charge, you would have to charge 3 times to get where my family goes in Florida.

I've always thought that Tesla or another charging company should partner up with McDonalds and install a few charging stations at their restaurants that are located right off major highways and interstates. Maybe dedicate 4 spaces with super chargers where you have to pay for the charge (I know it's free now in most places but it's not going to always be and I think people will pay for the convenience even now if it saves them from having to drive very far off the highway). It's a win-win for both: the person will probably have a drink or bite to eat while waiting for the charge as well as making a nominal amount to charge up the vehicles.

Also, I bet in the not-too-distant future, batteries will improve tremendously with much increased ranges and the time to charge will be reduced. I would imagine that there also may be battery exchange stations where you pull in and there is a mechanism that will drop the battery out the bottom of the car and install a new in a relatively short time. The wave of the future is definitely electric whether we like it or not.

Electric is here now and the basic technology existed 100 years ago. The problem then as now is: Conventional electric will never be as convenient as fossil fuels.

The only way this changes is if thermal resonator technology is created and made so efficient that a battery would only be needed only for extreme usage conditions.

We get that technology and it is over for fossil fuels. Till then we get to enjoy our gas powered vehicles.

Did anyone else catch 60mins last night? There was a spot on harvesting nodules from the Pacific Ocean that contain a bunch of rare earth minerals which would supply raw materials to build among other things batteries. They were talking about how many electric car batteries they could build from the trillions of nodules they could bring up.

I totally agree with you. While it's a nice find, like most, it'll probably get aggressively harvested with little regard for the impact on the underwater environment. I don't want to come across as what some would describe as a "tree hugger", but I don't like seeing things get destroyed. From what the newscast said the US isn't even in the game. China has laid the most claim.

Honda boss believes electric cars face hurdles wont become mainstream.
“EVs will not be mainstream,” company boss Takahiro Hachigo bluntly told industry trade journal Automotive News. His comments echo the ones made earlier in 2019 by Klaus Frölich, BMW’s chief engineer.
Hachigo also cast doubts on autonomous tech. “The hurdles to battery electric vehicles and complete autonomous driving are still quite high,” he added.

While Hachigo acknowledged the need to make cleaner cars, he explained Honda will focus on gasoline-electric hybrid systems to reduce its fleetwide emissions.

Considering that the original article was prior to the Ford announcement of the EV Mustang MachE, looks like chevy started (or at least announced) sooner and then lost the momentum.
