This is a 1969 4 Bolt Main 3970010 Small Block Chevy engine block. This just came out of an estate of an old hot rodder and has likely bee in storage for decades. The casting date on the block is H 26 9 which decodes as August 26th, 1969. The front pad stamp is intact and reads CE9B41085 as shown. This block is still standard bore with a slight ridge at the top of each cylinder that will not catch a fingernail. The cylinders and block externals look to have been greased long ago which has collected dust as shown. I believe this was originally a LT-1 engine because in the same estate there was an LT-1 balancer, timing cover, and intake manifold. This would be an excellent replacement block for 1967-1972 applications. I plan to take it to the machine shop to have it cleaned and checked over. I will post more pictures if it does not sell before then.
