I know enough when to ask for help and get information from those smarter than me.

Is this car a victim of adding options back when they were around or is it real?

The pictures can be blown up full screen for better detail.

Interesting D88 discussion at CRG, note Paul's response in reply #20: http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic=1067.0;all

Are there midyear options that were not tracked in production records?

I've seen it for other brands.....trying to think if I know of a confirmed one for Chevys.

Sorry, I'm not aware of the accuracy of the records, just recalled that discussion as it's a pretty unusual option.

That was an old one.....I still stand by the first car I saw. Wish we had cell phones back then. IIRC, this one was parked next to a Astro Blue 70 396 Velle w/ Vigilite

I remember seeing a 68 Chevelle with the stripe, original?

I've known about that car for 20 years. That's 124678N409488 - it has lots of issues. The laundry list is in that CRG post.
Let's start with repro tag, restamped block, etc. Paint details show that it's not original paint.
2 different GM production total sources concur - zero made.

RPO D88 did make it into the revised 1968 Camaro Brochure as seen below:

Yes, that D88 was referenced in GM literature is a given. But proof of any being built.....?

At least one for the brochure :)

Its kind of funny that the red car has light color stripes to darker stripes going back from the grill, but the blue car has dark blue first back to baby blue last......Bill S

Reminds me of 70’s Van stripes.

Those are the only two stripe colors I've seen - blue and red. Pretty sure that's the same blue car I've seen before.
