Any numbers stamped on the edge of the mounting flanges?

I have a similar fuel pump, outlet and inlet are positioned different than yours. Mine has a small aluminum tag attached under the head of one of the screws on the main body. It has a part number and another number that looks like a build date stamped on it. It looks like your tag may have been lost.

inlet and out let are both 1/4 NPT thread on them

i also have a few nos pumps with the 4 screws in the bottom and look identical to the bbc fuel pump on ebay presentlly for sale.... item number below

eBay item number:133037425107

that is what is making think they are assemble line bbc hi-perf fuel pumps

AC made rebuildable fuel pumps like the one pictured for small block & big block Chevrolets. GM part # 6415325 is for the Corvette HP small block & # 6415748 was for the Corvette big block. These fuel pumps were recommended by Chevrolet for racing usage back in the day. I believe the only difference was the fuel pump arm (lever). Big Blocks were usually stamped either 40170 or 40731, Small Blocks had the metal tag with the stamped number. Small Blocks had the cast aluminum bottom cover as shown, Big Blocks had either the cast cover but more often had the stamped steel gold iridite cover. Don.

Looks like they may have been made by Carter.

I’m thinking this is a low HP pump.
As I remember, all the High HP pumps stick out away from the block
by 3/4” or more like on the 40394 L-79 ChevyII Pumps
1965 L-79 was the same way.
A completely different top casting.
All HP pumps use the stamped steel bottom plate I believe.

Hmm, my big block pump is a 40170 with a stamped metal tag, cast cover, nothing stamped on the body. Just "Made in the USA" cast into the underside of the body flange.

Looks very similar to the pump for the 68 L78 application...I will have to dig out my original pump and compare.

here is some pics of my NOS Big block 40170 pump, looks like there are differences in the inlet and outlet spacing (Number of screws) and the double inlet boss is on the opposite side. Hope it helps.
