Just trying to verify the 2 blocks

Both appear to be authentic to me. Top one may have been V0306DZ originally.
Would be nice to do a search for the cars these blocks were born with.

Both appear legit... the N543xxx vin didn't come out of NC did it? There is a Dusk blue dk blue car sold out of ATL now in Ohio which is a mid nov car which I traced the engine back to NC - in that VIN range.

What was someone thinking ? the 86 day of March? Too bad, don’t think it’s a Flint mistake, someone added the 8

I just got off the phone with the current owner of the Z/28 for this engine, he switched the car over to an LS conversion & has no interest in the original engine & has no interest in selling the car. End of story.
That 0386 block is not the only one out there with an "8" where a "0" should be.
I would bet the 8 was there first and someone tried to correct it.

IMO - Don’t think so, that 8 character is a bigger font, plus it looks way more defined like it was hand stamped after the fact and it’s tilted/crooked too, I don’t really like other character styles in it either , definitely not the norm for a Flint stamp for sure.

Wow! If I had a car that was missing the original engine and I found out where it was, I'd make a deal to get it.
