One of the nicer GTs I've seen that seems to be priced reasonably at $6k. Lynn - don't you have one of these?

I do, and I am considering buying a second one. I have twin grandsons (right now age 6 .... so no hurry) and I think it would be freakin awesome for them to have twin Opel GT's.
Probably be best if I find another 1.1 GT. They are few and far between. But you cna just imagine how it is with identical twin boys (or maybe you don't). EVERYTHING is a contest. Who gets dressed first, who gets out of the tub first. Who finds the most worthless crap in the street when we go for a walk. Who wins at pool, basketball, baseball, running, monkey bars.... and on and on. Afraid it would upset the balance of power if one got a 1.1 GT and the other got a 1.9 GT.
Every time they come over they want to know why the Opel GT and the 70 Corvette LT-1 look so much alike. I keep explaining that the same guy designed both.
These are great little cars (if you don't mind driving underpowered vehicles) and really solid IF you can find one that is truly rust free. The tin worm has done a lot of damage to these. I was fortunate enough to find a relatively rust free example. Only rust was under the battery tray. Very common. Patched it and relocated the battery to the spare tire area using a Braille battery. Moved so much weight off the front that now I need to change the front transverse spring. Sits too high. Always something, right? You wouldn't think moving a 44 pound battery (and putting a 20 pounder in the back instead) would make such a difference, but you have to understand the whold car only weighs 1880 pounds sans driver.
I will say, after driving the GT and the LT-1 back to back, the LT-1 wins the accelleration contest without a doubt but the GT feels 10x more solid. No squeaks or rattles. That can't be said for ANY C3, let alone a T-Top car that nees the weatherstrip replaced. Still, each is special in its own way.

The similarity to the Corvette is unreal...I don't think I've ever seen one parked next to the other until now!
I can only imagine the rivalry between twin boys.

I never knew that the Opel GT and the C3 Vette shared the same designer. Learn something new every day.
About 20 years ago I used to see a pro street Opel GT at some of the local shows with a tube chassis and a blown big block Chevy in it. Needless to say, it was a real attention getter.
