I just purchased a 76 Trans AM from it's original owner. The car had sat since 1995. The headliner has fallen down on both sides. I'm looking for advice as to how I should deal with it. Pull it out and reglue? If so, any tips on how to go about it?
Replace it?
I'd like to keep the original in it as the car is a true survivor. I also don't want to spend good time after bad trying to properly fix it.
In advance, thanks for the consideration!

Check with other Pontiac guys before removing it. I vaguely recall one of our customers saying it was too big to be removed through a door; rear glass had to come out.
Did you buy it in Brookfield WI?

I believe that should be a 1 piece headliner. It should come out through the doors. The one for my '74 Z came right through the door opening with just a little bit of maneuvering. The hardest part was trying to find replacement material. The original material had a foam backing which rotted out and the weight of the material caused it to drop. The only reason I didn't put in a bowed headliner to replace it was because the assembly date is stamped on the back of the original headliner board.

We used to recover these a lot when they were daily transportation. Started to reply but it would be easier if you called me during the work week to tell you the tricks of the trade. It will fit out the door without taking the glass out and I’ll give you a number for the fabric.
