James, thanks for sharing!
Way back in 1981, I met the second owner of this Camaro at Super Chevy at Devonshire Downs in Northridge, Ca in the parking lot before the show opened. He had just bought the car from the original owner from an LA Times ad that had very little info on it (Hey Pete, maybe you could get lucky and find it in the newspaper archives?). He didn't have the $$ to get in...and since I was driving my brothers 1967 RS/SS 396 Camaro...I took the window sign with the info-out into the parking lot...and with some smooth talking, I got his Camaro into the show. :) Also the fourth(?) owner of this Camaro was one of the Pavilions regulars...Fred Koenig!
BTW-I talked to Doug Marion about this Camaro...and they went and talked with him. In the magazine coverage of the Car Craft SMN coverage from this event, they also mentioned about the cross ram manifold my step brother was selling-along with some of the blueprints from Chevrolet (My step brother bought them from a neighbor of my dads who was a Chevrolet executive).
Here's my brothers Camaro in the background at this show-and in the second pic...the crossram was on the ground on the right side fender area. Wish I could find the magazine that had the coverage! :

Another shot looking the other way...crossram is on the ground, you can see the two guys looking down at it (in the Colorado T shirt behind the guy with the yellow white and blue hat)...LOL (Though you cannot see the crossram!)

I just came across this car on BAT. The seller claims it has 90% original paint - door and quarter were touched up. There is unfortunately a large area of discoloration on the hood - too bad. Still, an exceptional car. If it were a stick car, my checkbook might be in danger and my 69 and 67 Camaros might be going up for sale.

I would think that a car as loaded and original as this one would sell for a LOT more than $35K.

That convertible belonged to my friend Jim Webb of Sherman Oaks, CA until his way too early passing last year at 58 years old. He had been enamored with that car since seeing it at the Car Craft event and in Super Chevy magazine. Jim had a lot of neat Camaros and had acquired many rare parts over the course of several decades. I hope the car finds a good home.

Bruce, I was also there at Devonshire Downs for the CC Nats West event as well as the ones they did at Pomona Fairgrounds. The guys walking next to my Tahoe Turquoise '67 Z-28 came to the show in the Rallye Green '68 Z. I don't know their names but wish I could have found a way to buy it at the time. It was a very unmolested car. My '67 Z got sold back to the original owner and it was at MCACN a couple of years ago.

Jon, How cool...He must have owned it after Fred K then?
Here's a link to some of the pics you should recognize....as I was at both places you mentioned as well :)

Bruce, yes Jim Webb owned it after Fred.
I got all of those same car show goodies at the time but they are mostly gone now or buried in a box somewhere. I've got pics but my scanner is DOA.

Wow, I guess I should start getting Hemmings! If I had seen that ad for $28K the car would be in my garage right now!

That’s one of the first Camaros to leave a lasting impression. I was rather young and just started a subscription to Super Chevy. When I started reading this thread my first thought was “ I wonder if it’s that red one with the mag wheel covers and white letter tires”- same car! Just has whitewalls now. Small world.

So would it kill the value of this car to swap it over to 4-speed? You could literally do it and make it almost completely reversible. Hole in the trans tunnel is already there, and there is a block off plate on the firewall for the clutch rod.

Probably rolled off the line with the whitewalls. Looks like he put a set of vintage bias ply's on it. My 69 big block car rolled off the line with whitewalls and wire basket wheel covers.

That dude absolutely stole it. So it does appear that the motor was rebuilt. Wonder if they did the tranny as well? It looks like there has been some level of restoration done in the engine compartment, or at least a deep cleaning. 125K mile cars don't usually look that clean under the hood.

If you look at the Super Chevy article, the AM/FM multiplex unit and the headrests are not apparent in the pictures.
