Need some expertise please.
I am going to look at a 69 Camaro from the California plant. The car is being said to be a big block car, but no engine, no trans. I am not sure if it has a tach to check the redline. It supposedly has the original 12 bolt rear 3.31 open carrier. It does have a big block heater core, and is disc brake equipped, there are no fuel lines in the car, but appears the sending unit is on the fuel tank. No build sheet, no POP. I am going to pull the rear seat if possible to see if any x-code written on the bulk head.
Any other thoughts where to look?

Sorry if worms are now pouring out of the can.

If it was a stick shift car look for the big block crossmember. Also the plate on the left rear frame signifying a duel exhaust car.

Check motor mount part numbers they are big block specific last numbers should be 113 and 114

am i wrong to think there would be the x code on the bulkhead for a California car, or was that only Norwood pre x code tags?

Look for a build sheet on top of the gas tank. The top radiator shroud support may still be on the upper core support. Sorry, no X codes on a Los. Car

Devil's advocate here, with the OE drive train missing and no paper work, why does it matter what it was? Could make a nice clone, hot rod, resto-mod, whatever. Not much point in 'restoring' it.

thanks William...taht is what i was wondering, i don't want to pay big block money for a project, that would never be able to be proven as a big block.
