My wife and I plan to attend MCACN in November, specifically to see the cars and stuff. I know Chicago is a huge area and there is plenty to do, but what would experienced attendees recommend in addition? We will have some time on Saturday afternoon and evening, and Sunday morning.
Thanks!

Gibson's Steak House!
They light the Christmas lights downtown that weekend and it's a big celebration, it happens on State Street Saturday night the weekend before Thanksgiving.
It's worth going downtown to see. You can take the "L" from Rosemont.

For what it is worth...…..if you plan on spending only a few hours at the show on Saturday morning/early afternoon you will not be able to take it all in. There are over 500 high caliber cars and depending on your interests, you will probably want to stop and take the time to appreciate many of them and potentially talk to attendees and car owners - which means you will have a hard time getting through them all in 5-6 hours. Every year I try and be methodical about making sure I see everything and inevitably when others post pictures I notice many cars that I missed. It is truly an amazing gathering of the finest cars anywhere.
As Tim (NAPA68) said, Gibsons on Saturday night is great, we usually eat in the bar and people watch. TimG also had a great suggestion about the downtown Chicago Christmas activities......plenty to do, enjoy.

I spend all day Saturday and most of Sunday looking at the cars and talking to owners. No way you can see it all in one morning unless you just walk by everything without stopping to truly look. The reveals alone take up all of Saturday morning.

Thanks for all the input. We have now changed our plans and will arrive on Thursday and leave on Monday. I want to be sure to allow enough time for my wife to do some of the things she wants, too. I know she wants to attend the show for me and likes cars, too, but there is a limit as to how long it will hold her attention.
Are the show tickets good for re-entry each day? Are they good for both Sat and Sun or do you buy tickets for each day?

You can come and go all day with a hand stamp. You will need a ticket for each day. I would buy online for convenience. Saturday is very busy, by that I mean crowded. Sunday around 5pm the cars all make their way out, which is a lot of fun. There is much to see and always a few things I don't expect. For 1969 to 1972 era muscle cars I don't think this show has any peer. Most importantly, get a hotel room around the show so you can be close.

Giordano's pizza. Portillo's for hot dogs and Italian beef sandwiches, Gibsons steakhouse. We LOVED all these places when we were there

in 2015 i was there as an exhibitor ...we were able to watch all the cars come in and get set up... is there any way to get a pass to watch the cars come in like that again if not an exhibitor this year?

Last year I took my family downtown on Friday. We had lunch at Portillo's, visited the bean, went to Navy pier and had supper at Giordano's. We're not used to the traffic so this took us all day, but we had fun.

That too was one of our favorite things to do when we had our cars there this past November. We were there Wednesday and go to see every car come in

Great to hear you will be joining us!
There is so much to do, not only AT the show but downtown and also in the area. The convention center is located in "suburban" Chicago, about 1/2 hour ride from downtown. It is in the center of what is called the Rosemont entertainment district, which has a 130+ store outlet, a Muvico theater, all kinds of bars and restaurants, an indoor sky diving deal, a bowling alley and way too much more to list, all within walking distance and right by our Official host hotels.
You can also jump on the "L" which is a train that will take you right downtown, eliminating the need to park. This is just a couple blocks away also.
Biggest recommendation I can make is to stay at any of the five Official Host hotels, as they are all familiar with what we do, and have great deals and extra perks and you can park and walk or take the "L" wherever you would want to go.
ALSO, Saturday night the Johnny Lightning/Auto World die cast folks are hosting a 50th Anniversary dinner Saturday night right at the DoubleTree, which is pretty much our "party central" hotel More on that later!
Ask everyone and you will get plenty of idea's that will include stuff to keep any family member happy, whether a car person or not.

The way I'm reading the Mcacn web site the show is only Saturday-Sunday. Is there anything car related there going on Thursday-Friday. Is it private for car owners only during those days. Larry

I will be in Chicago on Friday for business but will be done around noon. Is the event open to spectators at all on Friday?

Absolutely! The original Bullitt Mustang will be featured in the huge Mecum Experience display at MCACN, right in the center of the "big" room.

The show is not open to the public Friday, as that is a set-up day.

1970 Plymouth Road Runner Convertible
Only 824 Road Runner convertibles were built for 1970, but a Hemi helps this Plymouth rival the above Judge in rarity, as only four are known to have been built. One is confirmed to have been crushed, but the three others will attend MCACN, joining a handful of other B-body Hemi and 440 Six Pack convertibles.

Bob:
Is that correct? You are going to have the 3 remaining 1970 Hemi Road Runner Convertibles at the show? I believe this is the first time that any of them has been seen by the public.

Indeed it is! Been working on hosting the FC7 Canadian sold Hemi Runner convertible for several years, and it will be one of our Official Unveiling cars Saturday morning. It will be surrounded by the other two '70 Hemi Roadrunner rags and an entire row of 68, 69 and 70 B-Body convertibles, with a 383, several 440-6's and several other Hemi's.
