I stopped at a yard sale today and picked up 2 carburetors. I think one of them is a 429 Cj Rochester Q Jet, but not sure. I have no idea what the other one is. It's a Rochester and it looks like a 4G, but not sure. the tag has holes punched in it and the last number is punched out. Any ideas?

There were four different number Q-jets used on 70 429 Fords. The part numbers ARE NOT the same as the tag or stamp numbers. That carb is worth major $$$$. Q-jets were only used on Cobra Jet 429's. The four possibilities depend on,
1 Auto and no air conditioning
2 Manual and no air conditioning
3 Auto with air conditioning
4 Manual with air conditioning.
I have in my grubby little mitts the Rochester Products bulletin 9C-7000, which lists all four carbs by their given parts numbers, and the individual parts they are made up of, but doesn't tell you which on you have in hand. Maybe this link will help decode the Ford tag and identify it. Good luck. If you need a copy of the Rochester sheet, I would be glad to mail you a copy.

Freddie, is the Q-jet stamped with a number on the drivers side, above the secondary throttle shaft, on the main body? If it is, that will make decoding it much easier.

I used to work for Ford. The DOOF decodes to 70 Torino. That’s all I got

I should have posted this earlier. Thanks for the replies. Both carburetors seem to have a few pieces missing.

Q-jet appears to have been built December 8, 1970. Since the Mustang / Cougar site says those carbs were used in 70 and 71, the stamped date makes it a 71 carb.

A picture of the drivers (left) side showing the throttle arm would be helpful.

Freddie, I went back to my basement library. The only listing that starts with 700700 ends in a zero. So, a 7007000 is a 1955 Oldsmobile four barrel carb. If your carb resembles the one pictured in the following link, I think the question is solved. Look at it and see.

Yes, that's what it looks like. Thank you very much!

Got a chance to check the linkage on mine and it's a little different from the Olds carb in the picture. I don't know if this has ever been used. The color is real good and I don't see any signs of carbon in it. It's dirty, but looks good. Part of the choke is missing.

I'm not sure what differences there may be, or why. I'm not qualified enough on those old 4-jets. You'll need to reach out to someone that is more experienced in older Oldsmobiles. I'm just a glorified parts guy that buys and sells old car parts as a hobby. I'd bet there is a club or web site that can help you figure why yours may be slightly different. Good luck.
