Hi, what's the deal with this? Plant ran out of proper interiors? Supplies ran short due to riots? Something else?
Do we know how many cars received this treatment?
Thank you!

My buddy had a pristine 68 SS 396 car that had a Buick interior that was factory installed.
From what I understand there was a strike at Chevy/GM in 68 which may have created this..

I have a friend that has a 1968 L79 Malibu that came with the Buick interior. I don't remember the reason but the plants did run out of the standard interior and had to use the Buick pieces to keep production going. It's a well known fact among '68 owners.

I for one think it was a Huge Improvement with the Buick Interior.
That interior is stunning :)

Mine has it. Gm went on strike and supplemented the Buick interiors in the. Pretty unique!

68 altogether was a weird car year for GM. I love the 68 Chevelles and GTOs.

....and 442s! Can't forget them. A '68 olds has such a unique interior while sporting the iconic A-body exterior. With the right stance, they look just plain wicked.

Labor dispute at the interior plant. You can read about it here. I solved the mystery a few years ago and Dale posted the letters I found about it!

Looks lie there were quite a few non-Chevrolet interior codes for the 68' Chevelle. If we know the codes I can check production.
