I need to get a vinyl top for my Camaro. I told a friend of mine to contact Key Tops that I had heard they have the best. That's who I was going to order mine from. My friend installed his & I noticed the seams in the lower part below the back window were narrower than what I had observed from original cars. I had another friend measure his 100% original top from outside of seam to outside of seam. Top measures 39-1/8. Key is 39". Not a big deal. The bottom measures 45-1/4 on the original. Key measures 43-1/4. 2 inches different.

What gives? Any other thoughts on getting a correct measurement top?

Thank you, Joe

Key has good quality material, but on my 69 Charger the top I got did not have the correct seam on the A pillar like my original top. The grain and the thickness of the top were great. Not sure why they are missing these details. I know that Legendary has the correct top for my Charger.

Keep us updated Joe. I haven't bought my top yet and I was planning on going to Key. I'm in no hurry, but I want to know that I have a good top when I go to do it. There's been a few repro parts like that which have baffled me. Why go through all the trouble to make a nice product all to drop the ball at the 5 yard line?

Exactly. But there's lots of it out there. The Key top is the nicest I've ever seen....Joe

We put a Kee Auto v/t on Ben's Nova, it's excellent....

Did you contact Key maybe they made a mistake? The Nova looks awesome Marlin all the seams are where there supposed to be ?

I did contact Key. They indicated theirs is correct. I also talked to the guy who installed a Key top on my friends 69 Camaro & he said it didn't fit correctly on the tail area. He said he had to cut it & remake the seam. When I ask him his thoughts on this top he said the quality was good but he ask me to order the semi custom top which would require the tail to finished by him, the upholsterer.
I've not research 67/68 Camaro vinyl tops. I wonder it they are different than 1969? 1969 is 45-1/4 outside to outside of tail seam....Joe

For one thing, 69's did not stretch all the way to the drip rail. There's about a 1" (+/-) gap between the edge trim on the top to the drip rail.

That's one of the things I like about the 1969 Camaro vinyl top. Here's an interesting fact, almost 50% of 1969 Camaro coupes had vinyl tops....almost...Joe

Interesting factoid. One 69 FG Yenko is known to have a black vinyl top which extends all the way to the drip rail. Not factory built, but the story I was told was that a Yenko customer wanted a vinyl top, so ol' Don had one installed at a local shop.

There's more than one '69 Yenko Camaro with a Canonsburg locally installed v/t!!

Not surprised. Don could probably get one installed locally for less than the option cost, and put a little more cash in the coffers. I personally saw the FG one at one of the SCR's.
