This is a very interesting article. I’ve always wondered what pushed GM to do this.
Perhaps some of you have seen this already.

thats a good article
Don Yenko got hit hard by the 1963 ban
The Yenko Gulf Oil Corvette racing team had been getting 2 new Corvettes in 61 , 62, 63 and ran one of the 1963 Grand Sport Corvettes.
Don lost his Gulf Oil sponsorship and was on his own in 1964.

Great article. It reminded me of a conversation I had with Dick Keinath (RIP) who was the designer of the 427 Mystery Motor. He related a story about a reporter who asked some GM execs at Daytona in Feb '63 about their new engine. They replied, "What new engine?" That's how secret its development was. Dick said, "That's when the poop really hit the propeller." Of course he was referring to the shutdown of the MK-II works.
Hell of an engine!

This is a good read from the Chevrolet side...

Look on ebay or elsewhere for a more reasonably priced copy.

IT really hit it when half the GM engineers took their vacation at the same time and then ended up in the papers etc when they along with some crazy corvettes showed up in the Bahamas -- Nassau. re: GRANDSPORTS

Jim Hall, Rodger Penske, AJ Foyt ,Grady Little. All gave Carroll Shelby an uneasy feeling when their Chevrolet powered race cars showed up lol.
Zora returned to Chevrolet after that weekend and found out he had no program left.. Very interesting time at Chevrolet

Lots of guys abandoned GM after the edict. But Dick Harrell did his best to promote Chevrolet products during this time. One of the few that did it without factory support.
