I don't know if there are many guys on here that are "into" the early Pontiac's with the transparent steering wheels but I have a small collection of these cars and have been using Quality Restorations in Ca. for quite some time. They do great work but one thing I have always wanted was the transparent section of the wheel tinted to match the interior. Some guys say they came tinted from the factory, I don't know, all of the original wheels that I have seen are just yellowed looking.
I have found a guy in Sweden that recasts these wheels and he has done two for me with the tint. I am really happy with his work. If anyone is interested I can provide his contact information. Attached is a photo of one he just did for me with the transparent area tinted blue to match the interior in my 61 Catalina.

Wow! Very nice. IMO - way better than the slight "yellow" look. When it comes to rare full size Ponchos - Tommy's the man!

Tom, Quality has done 5 for me and I have no issues with their work at all but I had heard of the Swedish guy and I wanted to try one with the tint. The last couple that were done in Ca. were 1600 bucks each. The guy is Sweden is half that price

Yeah, I know the feeling, I'm 75 now and just don't feel like doing it anymore. I still love the cars but I have two that I'm reassembling and if I ever get them back together I'm just going to set around and look at'm

I like looking at them.

Like Art on the wall, but these cool Pontiacs are Art on four wheels.

Cheers, Chris.

That is definitely a very nice and special touch. Looks great. I am ashamed of myself as a "Pontiac guy" for not even knowing those transparent wheels existed...

They were the optional custom wheel, started in 1960 and continued into the late sixties, maybe longer

Cool! Can I see the outside of that 61?

The 61 is my Fave Pontiac. There is one locally I’m always trying to buy. And it’s a Royal Car.
Let’s see pics of the collection.

61's rule!!
Used to have a Bonneville. The steering wheel, was already painted, and the interiour wasn't correct. Still I loved this car. Had to sell it, to get jy 65 Wildcat 4 Speed, and a 56 Chrysler 300. U can't keep 'em all. Love to get another some day!
