That's a beautiful car. I got to see it in Chicago. I love the blue on black.

I'm sure it has been discussed before but I'm not remembering it, what is the story on the 390/400 HP tach in this car?

Beautiful car and I would bet the only L88 in the color scheme however, last time I saw it, 7 years ago in MCACN the windshield posts were clipped, it was flared & in full race trim ~

FWIW- Car was sold out of Calgary AB in early 80,s by local racers to Wayne Walker of ZIP Products, who had Nabors bros in Texas restore it at that time, where it won Bloomington Gold/NCRS Top Flyte etc around 1984?, then sold to multiple collectors over the years. Past owners include Steve Hendrickson , Larry Bowman, then Chuck Ungurean, plus others.

It was rumoured that in later years it had 2 complete bodies , 1 stock, & 1 race trim with clipped posts. When it was sold out of Calgary it had clipped posts and it was very rough. It was raced locally in the Alberta area by local Corvette guys, till it was discovered to be Delorenzos L88 car, then sold to Walker. Who knows what is original.

Great history on the car... thanks for the photos.

Even the calgary race photos illustrate an earlier mid year front clip.

Tony DeLorenzo campaigned very successfully in A-production with this L88 during the 1967 season, placing second within his Central Division. That regional success secured his spot in the yearend national championship runoffs, aka the ARRC (American Road Race of Champions). In 1967 that race took place at Daytona raceway. Tony and this car battled a legion of 427 Cobras, and ended up placing a very respectable second. First place was taken by Dick Smith and his 427 Cobra. The rivalry between the Corvettes and the Cobras at that time was ferocious, and all efforts were made by both sides to oust the competition. Here's a great interview with Dick Smith in Super Ford Magazine from June 1982, in particular take a look at the story he shares on the last page of this article about the GM folks and this 1967 ARRC race.
