View Full Version : Yenko.Net & MCACN Calendar

Greeting Folks!

As was started in another thread, the idea was posted to have a MCACN calendar made up for us to enjoy. I thought it would be a cool idea to also feature cars from this site that members have shown at MCACN over the past few years. Proceeds from the sales of the calendars would be split between Steve and the Yenko.net site to fund site improvements and name tag distribution at the show, and Bob & Vicki to help offset any after hours parties that I may be invited to:tongue::cool2:.

I’ve met with management of both venues, deliberated behind closed doors for the last few weeks, and the results are promising. Approval has been granted from said establishments to proceed with the project. The idea is to have the calendar ready by October and for sale through this site and of course, at MCACN. Depending on photo availability, I’d really like to have it done by June so I can peddle it at car shows that Bob attends since he won’t have much to bring to these small shows anyway. Places like Carlisle, Mopar Nats, SCR, etc. You know, those small shows!:rolleyes2:

So what about you? If I make the calendar would you pony up and buy one? How much would you expect to pay for a calendar of magnanimous proportions not comparable to anything that has ever been calendared before?:hmmm: Where exactly did the saying “pony up” come from anyway?:dunno:goggles

Price would depend on how many I make plus some added in to help Steve and Bob out. So here’s the poll and let me know what you think!!!!!

Thanks guys!!!!

Cheers:beers:

Super Dave

I’d do one. Ive done them in the past for my site. It’s a lot of work, by the time you buy envelopes to ship, you don’t make a lot. Put it in your pocket for all the work you’ve done.

That’s the spirit! Freddie, been thinking of who’s going to be in it and I’ve settled on a few cars but nowhere near the twelve yet. I have an idea for each car as to how the photo should be with background colors and settings based on their colors. I think it’ll all come together nicely and everyone will be pleased.

I’ll submit the list once chosen, but the photos and such will be revealed once I get a calendar made up. As like in the other thread, post up suggestions!!:3gears::biggthumpup::biggthumpup:

Greetings All!

The anticipation is over!!!! I’ve come up with a list of cars for the calendar and I’m sure you’ll all approve. The competition was intense, fierce, and caused many sleepless nights on my end. How do you chose from so many viable and worthy candidates without upsetting anyone? Well, pretty simple. Being originally from New Jersey, I don’t give a rat’s freakin’ behind what anyone thinks!!!! That made it real easy! Ok, just kidding, but it was a touchy process to chose only twelve cars. There’s not only a lot of great cars on this site, but a wonderful group of great people to boot. Without further delay, here’s the list:

1. January: Woj’s 2015 Subaru Outback “Rainbow Rider” edition
2. February: BillOhio’s 1989 Ford Probe GT
3. March: Bashton’s 1992 Chrysler Minivan T&C Touring
4. April: Grady Burch’s 1970 AMC Pacer “Mickey Dolens Special”
5. May: M22Mikey’s rotisserie and paint guns
6. June: NJSteve’s Pontiac Aztec “Triple Grille Edition” (since two aren’t enough)
7. July: Postsedan’s 22spd Rallye BMX
8. August: Charley Lillard’s 1987 Chevy Beretta SS
9. September: Xplantdad’s 1982 Ford Escort Cosworth Twister Special
10. October: RyanChevelle’s 1976 COPO Chevette
11. November: Burd’s 1980 Chevrolet Citation II
12. December: Galveston’s 1978 Dodge Colt LE/SE/RS/GTS

And there you have it! Yes, I know what you’re thinking. This will truly be an abominable calendar of upheaving proportions. :bs: The photos will just hurl right up to you with visual provenance not matched since the great Walmart Shoppers photo threads started! Price point for this calendar is around the $45 range to which I expect to sell out pretty quickly. So if you’re wanting one of these gems to enjoy 2021 with, they’ll be available for preorder next week. Delivery will be available at MCACN, and conveniently, they will be shipped in 55 gallon drums lined with 8mil heavy duty trash bags Complete with zip tie for easy disposal (cough)..I mean....distribution.

Cheers:beers:
Dave

PS: But seriously ....I’m getting close to finalizing the list. I’ll post up at the end of the month! Or, should this revealing be an ongoing secret until you get your calendar?? Mmmwwahhahaaha!

No problem on the number of calendars anyone wants as I think I'l be printing up at least 500 or so to keep the costs down. I've worked up a spreadsheet and flew Bob and Steve in on my flight benefits to review things. Steve's only flight was cancelled, and Bob spent all day in the airport flying standby on a buddy pass which really is just the agent telling you to stand over there and wave to the plane, "Bye" cause you ain't getting on it!:thumbsdown:

We tried a conference call and Steve was the only one that could figure it out. I keep hanging up on everyone and Bob never answered. We then reverted to smoke signals and from what I understood by the puffs, they like the way the project is going, and Custer attacking when last star falls in West while great yellow ball rise in other direction. :dunno:

There may be an opportunity for a scantily clad, well, kind of, poster featuring a member's car on a good old fashioned GM horsepower ad I made a while ago. :3gears: Details to follow....

I appreciate everyone being excited about it! I think it's a fun project and it's helping out this great site along with possibly buying Bob a burger on Thursday during move in day!:cool2: If I can have them ready by then I'll bring some to SCR23 but we'll see how the schedule goes.

The calendar should be ready for sale by the SCR I’d imagine, and of course I’ll post up once I get it done and ready. This week I should receive a few proof images to review.

And don't forget sYc Friends, to save this 2021 Calendar, not only is it likely to be a treasure, but you can reuse it in 2027 and even again in 2038!

And if you can't get one of Dave's creations before they're sold out, you can always dust off your Britney Spears calendar from 1999; it'll work for 2021 too.

Myself? I'm reusing my 1992 Toronto Blue Jays calendar for this year, 2020.

Cheers all,
Anthony

Now that is thinking outside of the box!!:haha:

Calendar Update! The final Month images are in and I’m just working on the cover now along with a few touch-ups. I have one car lined up for the cover photo, but I need another that I’m hoping a member can help out with that rather than having to scrounge one off the ‘net.

I need a rear shot of a 63 Spilt window ‘Vette. The shot doesn’t need to be the whole car, rather, just the back end from the middle of the roof down. A Daytona Blue one would be best, but any color would work.

The other car on the cover is accounted for, so any Yenkonians out there have one or know of one I can get the pic I need? Bruce? Calling BRUCE with all your Brucey connections!!!!!!:hmmm::biggthumpup::smile:

Just about ready to wrap this up and it should be ready in June for purchase!!!!!:headbang:

More to come...

Cheers:beers:

There's a bunch of them here...I have a few from a year or two ago in SoCal, but they are silver and fuel injected?

I am sure you can find better pics

Calendar Update:

Just a tweak of the cover page and the calendar project is DONE!!:headbang:

I’m going to talk with the printer this week to discuss sending them over the images and such. A few more smaller details to figure out, but all the member’s images are completed and I’m hoping you all like the outcome.

This was no small project. It was endless hours of me telling everyone else what to do! But seriously, I can’t thank all of you enough for the support and the photos. The man behind the art work of combining your images with my thoughts of a setting is Mike D’Alessio. And you all know him since he’s the guy behind the ads and such for MCACN!!!! So you KNOW it’s going to look great!!!:worship:

It’s been a really fun project and when available for sale I’ll post up again to let you know how to order and how to pay. :scholar: It’ll be shortly!

Please post feedback here when the time comes on images you like, don’t like, and any critiques you may have.

More to come...

Cheers

Hi Tim,

No, I’m all set and as a preview, here’s the cover! I chose a nice random online shot for the split window, but the Hemi Shaker scoop is from nine other than Doug Perry’s father’s Hemi Cuda!

I’m working on getting these printed with a proof due here next week. Final price on the calendar will be $15/ea or 2 for $25.

Move to come about ordering and such.

Thanks Dave. I'll be submitting my order.

These bring me back to when I was a kid of probably 12 when my dad used to take me to all of the different garages he worked with (he was a bodyman and insurance adjuster) and without exception there were a couple larger calendars hanging in the mechanic or body area with some old hot rods and some scantily clad ladies next to them. I used to volunteer to go get tools and parts for him and always made a detour around those areas so I could sneak a peak, lol. Good times.

Hmmm...I knew I should have gone with Bob's suggestion of scantily clad womens on this! The first one is a learning curve! :scholar:

Here's an example of what each month will look like. I've decided each month will be November since that's how much I love that show! :flag:

Proof by Friday! Woohoo!

I should have them in my possession in about a week or two and then they’ll be ready for sale!

Once ordered and I ship, please leave me some feedback here....both good and bad!

What a fun, fun project!! Now, I have Cuda and 507 threads to update!!:eek2:

Ordering details to follow!

Thanks, Bill!

As an update to ordering;

I’m working on shipping details (USPS flat rate) and once I get that situated I’ll update the post and then I’ll be able to let everyone know what to add to their totals when you send a check. As of now, I’ll be only able to accept checks/money orders since everything online using a credit card (and I refuse to use PayPal) charges a fee which is pointless.

Calendars will be ready to order this week and to get yours, you’ll have three options;

1. Order next week or anytime after that and send a check. I will start shipping July 1st and then after that, every 2-weeks. :headbang:

2. I will be attending SCR23 and will be bringing some of the calendars with me for those that may want to buy them in person at the show. (Cash or check):headbang:

3. Get yours at MCACN at the check-in desk up front or, if there’s any left after those move-in days, At the table in front of the office where the raffle tickets and show books are kept. I think this will be cash or check or the mighty Bobinator may have some sort of debit card thing working by then.:headbang::headbang:

To mail a check;

Dave Molnar
120 Private Road 2658
Walnut Springs, TX 76690

Please make the check payable to me, and of course, include your return address. :cool2:

For the members who’s cars are in the calendar, you’ll be getting a complimentary copy of the calendar with your order. :worship: If I used your car and you don’t plan on ordering any, just send me your address and I’ll ship you one.

I couldn’t have done this without you’s guys!!! A big thanks for all the photos you sent!!! Order often! They make great gifts, and also, they are very useful to throw at unsuspecting people to get their attention!:dunno: I mean, who gets hit in the head with a calendar? Nobody...but it’ll get their attention!

More this week!

Hat's off to A12Pilot for taking the lead and making this is a reality! Of course, since he has so much spare time, I guess it was just something to fill the void!

Now we all need to purchase them so that we can get him to do this every year!

Thanks Guys!

Just back from the post office and no flat rate shipping for them being 12x12, so it’ll go on weight. Depending on how many you order, that will dictate your shipping cost.

Before you send a payment, I’ll need you address for a shipping total. Once I get the calendars here I can figure all that out based on the weight of how many you order. I think maybe I need to create a separate post for ordering info to make things clear on how to get yours!

I don’t have PayPal. Tried to set it up a few times and all I get was a bunch of error messages. Add to that my New Jersey patience and 1/2 part Irish temper, and that was the end of that.
