Good DZ 1178 cranks go for 700.00-800.00 hundred dollars from what i experienced. DZ legit block could be around 3,000 dollars.

Standard block with a good date will typically be anywhere from 3K to 4K. Hard to find dates can push the envelope. Cranks anywhere between $600 to $1200 and standard/standard grinds always seen to go towards the higher end. Are the rods and slugs still there?

I think they're all good but April - May dates are the ones I noticed were in High demand. Lots of 05A cars built but for some reason there never seemed to be many blocks for sale in the V04 to V05 range.

But if it isn't the original block to the car its not really worth that kind of money in my opinion.

yes that would be nice to find the car it belongs to if it is still alive ??

Partial VIN will be down on the rough casting area by oil filter.

You sure it's not a Ford? I see a little Ford Blue paint! :)

It's good that you can read most of the vin. Most times, you can't read the vin down by the oil filter. I heard that some blocks weren't stamped with a vin, if this is true??

the guy that stamped must have been right handed !

You sure about that second number being an 8? That would make this engine a bit too early for that VIN. Is it a 5 or 6?? Got pics??

Seems a lot of blocks the N is not as clear, the fonts probably wore a lot from repeated use at the Norwood plant.

DZ blocks take forever to sell and nowhere near 4K. Had 3 over the last five years. Not much value except if you find the the original car, as has been said, then who knows what that person will pay you for it. eBay and the various chevy & Camaro classifieds are littered with them. Seems they are slowly becoming conversation pieces and garage art?
