A lot of work went into this one. Have to say I really like the bubbletop roofline on a '62.

Really curious what the 'experimental 389' actually is.

The aluminum 389 is a Mickey Thompson/Pontiac deal. Various information on the internet.

The car was sold at Mecum Chicago in 2017 for $65K.

Very cool car. Ive seen it for sale a couple of times. I believe at one point , the asking price was well north of $100k.

Since I built the engine I can add some facts.First its not a 389 its a 366.Nothing super duty about the engine. The engine was at M/Ts in the early 60s,finally bought it years later. The block was designed to be run without sleeves.Low performance 1.80 1.60 valves in the heads. We put 60 over 350 liners in the block.Cam is a Summit 2801,stock rods and cast pistons.Intake is a 61-62 SD intake and carbs are clone SD carbs, valve covers are repop 63 SD covers. Is a super rare engine, only one I have ever seen that came pretty complete from the factory.Tom
