What's the story on this car? What configuration was it sold in when new. I know it was sold new at Nickey, but I'm assuming the 468ci engine was installed at some later date? They said the engine was the last 468 built by Nickey so was it built in '74 and installed then?

WOW!!!
Not as big a loss as the 2019 Ridler Winner Caddy that sold for $275K after a $2.3 mil build!

I think that's a case where someone simply paid too much for it the first time around. What it sold for at BJ in my mind is more indicative of what the cars value may be as most people seem to view these cars at a little less money than a COPO or Yenko. Just my take on it.
The car was also originally Gold, and I'm one that would rather see it that way, just personal opinion.
Nice car though, I wouldn't kick it out of the garage.

The new owner is very happy.
History we have from Don Swiatek was that is was sold as a Stage III 427 to be raced. He inspected the car as found and remembered the car, prior to restoration. The car was missing it’s engine. Don had kept the last 468 engine he personally built from the NicKey Chicago Speed shop on Milwaukee 1974-77. He sold that engine to then owner for the restoration and was involved with technical advice during the process.
The ACME die cast is based on this car.
The car is coming back to Chicago Land and will be on Display at MCACN XII 2020.
That is one beautiful car, I'm glad I'll get to see it again.

We had this car in the NicKey display, back when we were the title Sponsors of the now defunct Vette Fest. It will be a first time showing at MCACN. It was also featured on a NicKey vs Mr. Norms poster (Vintage & Modern theme, designed by our very own Bob Ashton. Anyone have the poster?
There were so many great dealers in Chicago. It was a good time to grow up there.

Actually, he could not say no, this car as well as the vast majority of cars are at no reserve. I believe the reserve cut off is $400,000.00 or so.

Was this car originally found down around southern TN or northern AL?
