Beautiful restoration - with extraordinarily strong bidding (IMO) for a car that's NOM and has no docs....
I love the LS5/4-speed/AC combination but without docs or original drivetrain, this car could have been ordered as any V8 136xx Chevelle from the factory. It's interesting to see this car being bid so high - makes me wonder how important pedigree is to the 'average' guy looking for a nice '70.
Just some late-night thoughts...I had better go to bed!

Wonder no more.
I'm an average guy and I have always wanted a '70 Chevelle SS.
If the original drivetrain is gone it might as well be a "clone" IMHO. Just give me a copycat Malibu with a hot BB and a 5 or 6 speed. Gotta have that ZL2 hood too.
I won't pay extra money because of what a car used to be.

I'm no expert but when I see the Chinese boosters, incorrectly restored and/or reproduction dashes, and what appears to be a parts catalogue type restoration I see those as potential red flags. Certainly a good looking car that will probably be bought by a "non-car" guy looking for shiny paint that most will see as a perfect show car when going down the road. The flip side even if it is a clone is that you could not buy and "restore " the car for the current bid price...…….

Don't let Mikey see that booster, Rick will probably be annoyed by that cowl gasket, and the gap on the Driver's side door leading edge will probably drive a few of our more talented body men crazy......

I don't have the technical expertise that a lot of y'all do but that door gap jumped out at me.
At least the car isn't sporting Cooper Cobras. Caint stand those things.

Unfortunately, if you want to run a 14 or 15 inch white letter in a radial, your choices are getting pretty limited. Especially if you are looking for the bigger sizes.

Not sure why you don't like the Coopers southernfriedcj. I've seen you say that before. They're a good quality tire, reasonably priced for those of us that drive their cars routinely and they have a nice classic white lettered look. They're also easy to get in most places. I wouldn't use them on a show/trailer queen resto or survivor of course.

I see where they are now making a replica of the Firestone Wide-Oval in a radial that has the same sidewall and tread pattern as the old school bias tires. But you are still limited on sizes. Still, might be a good compromise for an original car that you actually want to drive.

Hawk, I like the day-two slots and slapper bars on your car.

Unfortunately you can still tell it's a radial tire from 30 feet away where the sidewall meets the tread pattern.
And the tread pattern has its differences from the Bias-ply too.

Thanks. She's a work in progress. She's just about ready for paint, but I need to finish building my new garage first.
