If it's an early car, those were advertised at 450. Same engine, same suffix, etc. I believe the change was due to insurance pressure.

If it was early in the production year they were rated 450HP later GM down graded the HP to 425.

----My older cousin ordered an L72 66 twin to this car long before opening day. When it arrived and I looked at the car I don't know why but I looked at the serial # and it was #700. You can't forget that! Nobody believes me to this day but it had a black air-cleaner lid with only the 427 on it. However, the window sticker stated 427-450. Never fell in love with the yellow even though I have had several yellow65s, 66s and 67s.......Bill S
Bill, yellow, you either love it or hate it. If it was 1967, I'd order Sunfire yellow, but I know many folks that don't care for it.

----You know me, Tim. I like them all. My whole career I tried always to buy only what I liked, not the latest and greatest. Almost every time I strayed from that parameter I had problems. In any event, a good Corvette is a good Corvette, no matter what color it is. I had a 67 yellow 435 roadster that I actually sold to Jim Krughoff and I did like that one. It might have been the 4:56 gears and the L-88 light flywheel set-up,,,LOL. That 67 would set you on your ear!!! Stretch remembers that one well. It also was a bit unusual in that it had a white gut with black stripe......Bill S
Bill, I know that that has to be the car in this picture. I've had this framed picture since I was in College and it still hangs in my garage today (as Sunfire Yellow/white is my favorite color). In about 1981 this car was for sale in Hemmings and I called the fellow. He told me about the L88 components and the 4.56 gears. If I remember, he lived in Georgia (possibly). We're pushing 40 years, but I remember my conversation. He wanted in the area of $7,000 for the car.
Please tell me it's the same car. This picture was taken in front of Krughoffs home.

----Yup! I was there the day the photographer took the pic. Jim took it on one Corvette Club rally type deal and I think he tired of the 4;56s. Jim had his whole collection of 65s and I think he bought mine so he could have something to actually use. He didn't keep it long and I think Richard sold it for him......Bill S
----You can just spot the white visors in the picture.
