It's 'only' a 340hp 409 with a 'glide, but I can't imagine selling a family heirloom this cool. Feeling bad for the seller....

Bidding is already at $11k with the reserve not met - wondering what the true value of this one is. Maybe $15-18k? I don't see many of these coming up for sale that aren't already restored.

Black with a blue & white interior is pretty neat. A pity it's not a 4-speed.

Back in the late '60s my next-door neighbor had a '62 Impala convertible, white/blue interior, SB/PG with factory dual exhaust. All stock, original owner. I can still hear the sound of the Powerglide and tailpipes as it idled in his driveway.

Cool Granny car, looks like a Stevinson Chev. Golden CO Emblem on the lid, Zone #10 Dealer #822.
Here's a link to the Barn Finds page w/ Cowl Tag breakdown mentioned in the eBoy ad update...

Assuming it still has the original engine, I think $18K is about where it should be in that condition. You could get the car all done and still not be upside down in it. It is a beautiful combination. When 90% of the 409 cars today are fakes, don't forget to add the value percentage to having a real one.
There really aren't that many out there anymore.

I love the idea of a 409/PG Impala.

The '09 P/G was unique. It was a little more heavy duty than the 327 and had a unique flex plate. It came with a chrome stick tube too.

Wow, a chrome trans dipstick tube? Is there any other car that came with that from the factory? Can't be many others. In the pictures, it sure appears that the dipstick handle is chrome, so I'll bet under the grunge the tube is also. Cool stuff, Verne!

IIRC, one of the Muscle Car mags a few years ago did a build-up on a 340HP 409 and it wound up being a pretty stout engine.

The oil dipstick handles were also chrome in '63 & '64 & '65. The sticks themselves were stamped "409 SS" down by the full mark.

I recently looked at a ‘63 340hp/PG Impala convertible, same family owned since ‘68. The son told me it took a lot of abuse, won it’s share of teen street races, and often got 7 or 8 teens and their skis up to the mountains in the 70s. Hopefully it will be reborn someday soon.

Tom,
That's a legit deck stamp. A friend of mine owned a duplicate of that car back in the day on L.I.

Thanks Bruce. But some may debate that.

Tom,
If you took a photo of the cowl tag on that convertible, I'd love to have a copy.

Photos received Tom. Thanks! I have deck stamp photos from cars a few hundred before and after that one. That's just a couple days of production at Van Nuys. BTW, Van Nuys used two completely different sets of characters in their gang stamps.
