I just purchased a X77 RS the engine is a CE DZ302. The carb is incorrect on car and I would like to put a correct 4053 on it but how important is date on a non numbers car? I can get a new service replacement 4053 for 1000.00, or a 934 date 4053 car is a 04C for a little more after rebuild. What would help the value of the car in your opinions?

My advice, enjoy it as-is. In addition to its fundamental problem, too many issues to address.

No such thing as a "CE DZ302."

The engine is a 302?? block is stamped CE9B300, it might be CE98300

I think what he was saying is the reason it is called a DZ 302 is because it has the DZ suffix on the pad.

I think this car was recently discussed here.

To answer the carb question, if you really want the original 4053 Holley, you are much better off spending a bit more and getting the correct dated carb. That said, if you are planning to keep the car and it runs well than I would not be in a big hurry.

It is a DZ 302 OR it is a CE [warranty] 302. It can't be both.

Block reads CE9B300, I was just stating it is a 302 sorry for my lack of correctness

What carb is on the car now? For the money you could correct a lot of small issues that are visible. Things like hoses, clamps, fasteners etc. The white interior looks fantastic. Mine is dark blue.

Just for what it's worth and not trying to nitpick, but if it's an X77, then drop the reference of it being an RS as you could not order the RS Option on an X77 coded car. Someone may have added it and that's fine, but an X77 car is simply a Z/28.

Being that you have a CE Block already, I would NOT waste any money trying to date correct the carb. If it has a 4053 carb in it now and it runs fine, leave it alone and use it.

Looks like a decent little driver.

What is on it for a carb now beater? I have a 942 dated body (that needs a choke plate) plus I have correct metering blocks. You could use your current baseplate ....I need $350. PM me if interested. I really like that car - good buy.

That might work!! Let me see if I have a correct baseplate. Thanks on the car I feel good about the price, I was a little hesitant I already bought a 71 Z and a 70 V Code 6 Pack Cuda this year, but couldn't pass it up...

Find a 3310-1 only, not the later versions, we can set it up with the same specs as a 4053. The key is in the metering blocks and the idle feed restrictor size, 4 corner idle helps a lot. What do you have now. Save the money.

My intention was to clean up what is there and bring back some originality to it, I did that with one of my second gen z's though its not perfect OE its much better than it was... Ill do the same with this car. Its very similar to the first 69Z I had and regret selling probably what pushed me to jump on this one, and there's not much out there for real 69 Z's under 40K that I've seen. This is one of my second gens ill do the same to the 69 I was more curious how far I should go with correct parts dates?

Great buy on that. I saw it about an hour after you pulled the trigger. I was ready to buy it as it was only about 75 miles from me. Looks like a decent car and alot of what isnt correct can easily be corrected. Color combo is killer!!
