Debating whether to bag the Camaro on the 4 post lift and keep the daily drivers in the garage this winter or kick them out into the snow. Anyone use a car jacket on a car parked on a lift?

You mean a cover? If not, what is a “jacket”?

I use them on my cars, but haven’t used them on a lift. No reason I can think of that they wouldn’t work.

Thanks guys. I figured it would work, but couldn’t find an example anywhere on the internet. I thought I’ll take the battery out then zip it up until Spring. I’ve only had one other car that is as nice underneath as it is on top!

We have used these 'bags' for years...they are a great product. No reason it won't work on a lift but you need to be sure you have it positioned correctly. There is normally a little give and take using the bag on the floor...with the lift the bag will have to be centered correctly on the ramps so the zippers come together without binding.

We take out the batteries, over inflate the tires, add stabilizer to the full tank of gas and use some dryer sheets and de-humidity packets in the car and in the bag.

I assume you put a cloth cover on the car prior to the bag...

I have 3 of them and work great. I dont see why you couldnt use it on the lift.
I put sheets over the car and then pull the bag over.

Car Jacket is the best money you will spend. Before I finished my shop. I used them all the time. Never on a lift but shouldn’t matter. Keeps my Danny looking NEW 20 years now!!

I use the CarBag every year on my Bendpak HD-9. It's no issue, works great.

It looks like your ramps are treadplate, but on the Bendpaks there is an abrasive baked into the powedercoat which will damage the bag. I put some ~18" square interlocking floor tiles over my ramps to make a smoother surface, and I lay the bag over that.

Thanks again guys. I really appreciate the comments.

Yes Supreme, that is diamond plate - I think it will be ok. I’m going to order a car bag and give it a shot.

mark post pics when you get it on the lift, and identify tips or tricks for easy placement.

Mark. How tall is your ceiling and what lift are you using?

My ceiling height is 131 inches. This is an Atlas 8000 EXT. it is exactly the same as the Direct Lift, but it has the std foot print and an 84 inch lift height. In that pic there is 64 inches clear under the lift.

Just a tip, after positioning car let it sit until at ambient temperature before covering and buttoning up, or push into position and cover button up. Engine start up creates condensation one doesn’t want to bag and seal with the car.

Mark...Car Jacket is a great product, I've been using one for over 10 years but not on a lift. Keeps car as nice as when you put it in! One thing you need to be aware of is that in the spring when you take the car out, when you first un zip the CJ you will smell gasoline and make sure you're not smoking or using an open flame. The gas smell comes from fuel evaporating out of the carb after you zip up the CJ and also fumes from wherever the gas tank vents going into the car jacket after it's zipped up. This is normal, after you zip up the fumes have nowhere else to go. Just let the garage air out for a while after you remove the car from the jacket in the spring before you try to start it and you'll be fine....it has never been a problem for me but I wanted you to be aware of what you will encounter in the spring.....great product, I wouldn't be without one!

Thanks Randy, I appreciate the tip. Meant to order the car bag today, but it’s been a tough one. Lost my 93 year old Mother this afternoon...

I've been wondering the same. It might take some work to get the car centered in the bag but I think it might work. I have a friend who bought a similar product from California Car Cover. Their "bag" is suppose to prevent rust due to a special fabric they use. I know that when he used it the first time it took several tries to get the car centered so he could zip it up easily. The second time, when he got that vehicle in the right position he made marks on the bottom part where the tires sat so he could position the car next time without a lot of trial and error.

Does anyone have experience with both the Car Bag/Jacket and the one from California Car Cover? I would like to know they compare.

Thanks Randy. We weren’t expecting it, so it was quite a shock. That said, she had 93 good years, so that is something to be thankful for.
