My friend Brian is about to help Chris Knudsen prep this Camaro to paint back to original Lemans Blue.
Chris's Dad Roger was a local old school drag racer and bought this Camaro in 1984 to race NHRA Stock. Roger won Stock Eliminator at a national event at Brainard (MN) Raceway in 1998.
After Roger's passing son Chris inherited the car and continued to race it. In 2018 Chris won the same national event, at the same track, 20 years after his Father.
Chris is also building an aluminum head (L89) engine for 2021.
I think that is a pretty cool story!

Forgot to mention, runs 10.20 in C/Stock L78 trim.

That’s an awesome back story.

I like the car just the way it is... especially the way it’s being driven!

Chris gave me this pic of the black '69 L72/Turbo 400 BelAir that his Dad, Roger, bought new to race in NHRA E/SA. Later, after buying the Camaro, he raced both for a while but eventually sold the BelAir. Believed to now reside somewhere in WI.

ET's have dropped, I ran C/SA (as well as many other classes) years ago, set and held the record at 10.34 till it went to a minimum. You just never know where the last hundredth, or thousandth is hiding!
I wonder where NHRA has the horsepower rating for the L78 now?
