View Full Version : Pad Stamp Decode
From an October 15, 69 casting #854 396, what car do you think this came from? What would be the 7th position in the vin looks like a number 8 rather than a letter.
If it is supposed to be a B that could be a Baltimore November Chevelle based on the sequence.
Thoughts?

No, but thanks. I knew a CTW could be from a Nova, Camaro or Chevelle. Its also a 2 bolt block, so not a 375. (sorry!)

That’s a weird partial vin after CTW.
1=Chevrolet
0= 1970
8=?
120589 sequential vin.
Maybe it’s a B ?

I'm guessing a Baltimore built Chevelle. I've seen the 8 used in place of the "B" on rare occasions.

I have seen many incorrect stampings from Baltimore such as 100 and 188 and the obvious and correct 10B but never a 108. However, based on the others it is very possible they did that as well and it matches the timeline when the other fubars were made. Definitely a Chevelle.
Thanks everybody. I'll try to get a better image of the sequence numbers and get this Orphan up for adoption.

Definitely a Baltimore Chevelle engine. That is one of the many Baltimore anomalies that showed up for 70 . There are many.
