Arlington built 71 LS5 SS TH400 3:31:1 Carolina Blue Convertible
ZL2 Cowl Induction, F41 Suspension
Matching trans, rear, 5500 rpm tach, big block steering column
Original motor missing - spoke to owner who had car in 1974 and he blew the engine in 1975 and had another 454 installed (built up motor)
Car hasn’t been outside since 1985 - remarkable solid body
As typical with Arlington cars I only found a few fragments of broadcast sheet inside of rear seat that was left after rodent ate it. Nothing under floor insulation.

The owner that had the car told me he had an accident about 1982 in front and they replaced the front markers at that time with 72 model parts.
Cool Car,would like to see more of it.
That shiny exposed area on the Trim Tag looks like where they would tape a build sheet to during assembly.

He shoots... he SCORES!!! Sorry guys, I really miss hockey.
Nice find. Do you know what dealership it was originally sold at? If not, have you requested a NCRS report? My Carolina Blue 1970 LS5 Convertible was originally sold at Alamance Motors in Burlington, NC which has since been converted from a dealership to a tire shop.
Looking forward to seeing more details and hearing what you have planned. If that’s still the original factory Carolina Blue paint, I hope you can salvage and preserve as much original paint as possible. This is only the 2nd Carolina Blue Chevelle SS 454 convertible I know of.

Original selling dealer believed to be Everett Chevrolet in Hickory NC.
Just so happens the dealership was 30 mins off our route back to NJ so we stopped in.
They are looking for paperwork on the car and the owner is still alive from 1971. They are going to ask if he remembers the car. They may have pic of it from
1971.

That might also explain the absence of '454' emblems underneath the 'SS' emblems on the front fenders.
Nice find

Exactly right confirmed by the owner who had it repaired in early 80’’s. Car was parked in 85 and not touched until few months ago.

I searched for Carolina Blue Chevelle Super Sports. A number of 1969 and 1970s. Couldn't find a single 1971

Awesome Find. 71 LS5 Vert in Carolina Blue. Doesn't get much "Specialer" If that is a word. ;), than that!
There was a guy around my home town who had a 72 1C37 Carolina Blue Chevelle. It was also an Arlington car. From what I've seen most of the Carolina Blue Chevelles came out of that plant. A few from the Baltimore plant.
Hard to find build sheets in Arlington cars that are salvageable. For what it is worth I did find a build sheet on top of the gas tank in a 72 Arlington car....I know that is not the norm, more of a Van Nuys thing but may be worth checking out. May get lucky.
Late build as well 06. Got the bullet mirror vs the earlier chrome 70 style remote.
Got to love the "Square" stripe on the Arlington 454 cars.
Definitely keep us posted. Cool car for sure.

That previous owner could give a clinic on how not to store a car.

Thank god this was Georgia otherwise this car would have been a pile of dust. This car is amazingly extremely solid with slight decay on drivers quarter and one tiny pin hole below rear seat which was very typical on convertibles.

Found a build sheet today on top of tank. Not in great shape and missing a bunch of pieces but a lot of the important stuff is there including the special paint, AU emissions tag (LS5 only) RU rear code (LS5 3.31:1) D80, selling dealer etc.
The owner of Everett remembers the car and they believe it may have been his dealer demo car in 1971.

I may consider selling car. The owner of Everett Chevrolet has shown interest but no commitment yet.
If you are interested please PM to discuss car. I am not certain I will sell it yet but open to consideration.

Very neat car and nearly identical to my hardtop version.
My 72 SS 454 is also Carolina Blue, built at the Arlington plant and sold new at Modern Chevrolet in Winston Salem, NC.
