Yes. That's the number from AIM. Also turns out to be the number on the emblem which doesn't always happen...Joe

Heres an NOS one on ebay.

I think the 3958640 mentioned above is for RS grille

3958638 is the part number for SS emblem non RS

Yes, the 640 is for the RS grill & the 638 should be for the non RS. The one you posted from e-bay is a renumbered box & I've sent 2 messages to that seller over the last few days & no response. I would like to know what the casting number is on that emblem. I know the casting number I'm looking for exists as I was sent a picture of one this morning.

I have a 3981921 that "fits a 69" but I can't get the pal nuts started onto the studs. The "V" of the 921 emblem doesn't fit the point of the grill.
3958638 was the first issued part number for that emblem & that might be what I need to find

I will call the phone number that HuggerSS posted tomorrow.
Thank you everybody...Joe

Tom. Since you have 2 different numbers, how does the length on the pins compare? Are the 590 pins longer by chance? Thank you, Joe

3958640 was the original part number
it was discontinued and replaced with 3958638.

3958638 then showed up as use part number 3981921 by 1981.

3981921 is also the SS emblem for the 70-72 Camaro. This may be why the studs are shorter.

3958640 was the first part number for a 69 SS with R/S.
3958638 was the first part number for a 69 SS w/o R/S

Why the 640 was superseded to the 638 makes no sense

I would like to know what the casting number was on the 3958638

The 6263015 has a casting of 3986590
The 3981921 has a casting of 3982043

The assm line installed SS emblem has a casting of 3943229

I'm wondering if the 3958638 shares the 3943229

Research sometimes is a pain. Thank you, Joe
