Never Installed Second Gen F-body Booster

I picked this part up at a swap meet many, many years ago. It had the orange plastic cap affixed, and I do not see any marks on the brackets from any bolt holes, which leads me to believe it was never installed on a vehicle. It appears to be the correct booster for the second gen Camaro/Fiirebird. I am not really very educated on the second gen cars. Can anyone help me to identify it? There is what appears to be a "187" stamped on the tab. It looks like it has the correct factory finish on it. Best I can figure, the green paint dabs are some type of inspection mark.


Can anyone comment on this part? Is the 187 the date it was made, and if so, how can I tell the year and month? TIA

187 is the Julian date. July 6th in 1970. I don't believe you can tell the year by this number alone.

On the opposite side of this tab there should be another number. 0426 on my 1970.

I took some more pictures. Looks like a "1951" on the back of the tab and "DO" or "D0" on the rod. Any ideas?
