Quickjack 7000EXT portable lift

I finally pulled the trigger and bought a set of Quickjacks. I wanted the longer length for my old Galaxies and my pickup. The pickup is right at 5300lbs, so I opted for the 7000 in lieu of the 5000 series. It went together pretty easily and seems robust. I’m not worried about getting under the cars once the support arms are locked in place. I’ll update as I use them more. My garage is underneath the house and has 8’ ceilings, so options were obviously limited.

For all of you considering these, the 5000 and 7000EXT (extended) are the way to go for stability and hitting the points you want. Unless you restore old Minis or Sprites they won’t be too long (that’s a 2018 Mazda 3 above). Even if you get a car that they’re somehow too long for, you could put them crosswise inside the wheels and pick it up that way (though you won’t be able to drop drivelines easily that way-But honestly with cars that small, it’s not like you’re wrestling Turbo 400’s out)

They’re a little more than 6’ tall/long when collapsed. Most store them vertically, I recommend just buying their wall hangers-they’re nice looking and do the job they were designed for. I have them set with most of the weight still on the floor, as recommended. I bought a hose hanger for the hydraulic lines to distribute the hang weight more evenly, and yesterday I built a rolling cart to house the pump and the collection of lift blocks and truck extensions I have for it.

I have a 7000, not an EXT. I've had my 77 Z28 (which was too low and i needed to drive up on some wood) and 67 up on it. None of my trucks yet, but I do have the SUV adapters a friend gave me. Ceiling height is my issue, and width to a lessor degree. 2 car is only about 25'x28'.

I've been using it on my 67 Camaro the past few weeks. I had a 4 speed trans in and out if it a few times. Its tight but I can. Not sure I'd be able to do that with the much bigger T56 in my 77. the frame rails are just too far inboard compared to modern pinch welds

I'm still learning how best to use this thing. I don't love stacking blocks but have trying to level things. Like the Camaro is on it now with single blocks on the back and stacked blocks up front.

I had trouble trying to pick up my kid's 2014 challenger. I tried to use blocks on frame rails but it wanted to slide off as i raised it. I need the pinch weld blocks for that car. They really ought to include those with it. It pissed me off i could not pick up the challenger with what is delivered.

I need to make some cribs or get the race ramp cribs. But the car moves backwards about 12" when you lift it, so I am hoping I can actually get a car down onto cribs.

Its a compromise for me. No room for a lift. I like it, I don't love it. I wish the controller cable was longer (or wireless). And it's heavy, like 90lbs a side. I still think I might have liked the max jack better, but I doubt my floor is adequate. But when i see a max jack i get a little buyers remorse.

The pinch weld blocks are overpriced (IMO) and I’m peeved that the round machined pinch weld blocks I ordered don’t have dimples on the bottom to engage with stacking on other blocks like the regular pinch weld blocks do. The small blocks included should just be the pinch weld modified ones instead.

How easy are they to lift and put on the wall?

With the roller wheels on the end, you wheelbarrow them around, carefully hoist it to vertical against the wall, then grab it on the sides and boost it over the hook. I'm not uncomfortable, but I'm glad they aren't any heavier. (I'm 51, just under 6' and 200lbs). They're portable, but you're not going to be looking for reasons to throw them in your truck by yourself.

Thank you for educating me about the Max Jack. I too am in a decision process about jacking systems for my shop and this jack is exactly what I need, considering my height restrictions.

I used the jacks to lift my 1965 Comet to do some undercar cleaning, and I can see some of the limitations mentioned. The unibody isn’t symmetrical front to rear, insofar as the best lifting points aren’t in line with each other, so it’s hard to set the jacks parallel and pick up the points you want. I got pretty close and lifted it off the ground without incident. Access to front and rear sections including suspension is great, middle undercarriage and components less so. My Galaxie has big frame rails running parallel to the rocker, so it should be better, X frame cars are probably a challenge.

Put my 5700 lb extended cab truck up for a brake job. Using their extenders to get enough vertical lift height. My truck isn’t lifted, 275/55/20 wheels and tires are 6-8” off the ground. Will make this a quicker task for sure.
