69 z-28 with a star stamp ??????

i have been looking at this 302 engine and it has a STAR stamped on the block by the fuel pump .Does anyone know what this means ?????? Thanks Joe

Just a WAG, but maybe an identifying mark made by a machinist at some point in time.
