That must be a plate that has the thin metal cover over a fiber backing then.

When i worked at Luby Chevrolet in Boston in 1969 i drove the pace car they had around the area for a few days before it was put in the showroom

Could it be as simple as they took the plates from the 67 and reused them on the 9..?.

I remember seeing one at MCACN , if I remember correctly it was used @ Indy & was an L/89 ....

I don't think I have ever seen a photo with the wheels of the 67 pacer painted Bright Blue.
Had to be done by Chevrolet - does anyone know if the wheel color was spec'd on any of the engineering sheets?

Great shot. Clearly shows the wheels were silver. I don't recall seeing blue rally's on any IPC's, so that may just be a lighting thing. Phil will have looked at more of these pictures....
