Fuel tanks are dated by week of assembly, beginning with 1st week of production for model year 69. Tanks are not dated by a Julian day of year calendar, FYI.

Here is my original tank off a 03D Build...dated 33rd day of 69

The Ring Flange area, where the Sending Unit mounts is dated 31 9

I believe both way like timing covers.

33rd week would make my tank Aug 11-17 of 1968 for an 03D build of 69..... I don't think so that's 7 month difference

August 1-7 is the first week of production for the MODEL year, not the calendar year. That's how gas tanks were dated.

And, they started over for the late 69 model year.

So, and 08A of 68 built car could have a 1 69 date code.

My 08A of 69 built car had a 1 70 code gas tank. The 1969 1/2 cars (I know, they were not designated such) had to meet 70 regulations; like the blue mylar vin sticker on the door, which started in August 1969.

Week 33 would be middle of March, 1969.

Week 33 was the 33rd week of production for model year 1969, which started first week of August.

Now I understand what you are saying. Checked the calender and 33rd Week is March 21, 1969......Thanxs for the lesson....never to old to learn.

Now I know that's why my late 11A 69 Z28 has a Timing Cover 10 70....never understood and thought it was wrong, but knew it was original to the untouched engine.
