'71 Riviera GS, Orig Owner, Insane Price

I should say 'second owner' since this appears to be a flip. Probably one of the nicest ones out there, but at $31k with the auction still underway, I have to ask...are these cars actually bringing real money now?

Pretty crazy price given it has had a complete repaint and from the description it sounds like the repaint is not in good shape, but clearly there are at least two bidders that want it bad.

I think you are "stuck" on comparing Camaros to "oddball" cars.

I owned one of these, ultimate sleeper car. Luxury, top of the line for the year, and very fast for the size of it. I owned it in the early 90's, it would whip 5.0L Mustangs all day. Exceptionally fast for the size. Came from the factory with a shift kit in the 400 tranny. You could pull it down in to first, (column shift) and then it would shift up in gear without you moving the lever. So all you had to do was drive it, it would shift up by itself and "bark" the tires in all 3.
Wish I had still had it... AND I don't think that car is overpriced. The GS parts are VERY hard to acquire.
In this volatile $$ climate....this car is a steal

I had 2, a 1971 identical to the one above except white top and a 1973, also blue, non GS.
Great cars, you either like them or hate them. The 71 ran great with a 150hp shot of NOS, it would beat just about everything from a roll in the early 90's including ZR1 Corvettes, Cyclones and GN's

I ran 5.0L Mustangs from the stoplight. They couldn't believe "GRAMPAS" Buick whipped their bu--- Till they looked at the GS insignia on the fender

I would have to say that the '71 GS is the most desirable of the "Boattail" Rivieras. With low mileage, a great color combo and buckets & console, it's a real find! I love it!!
