Who's the best for this service. I have a 309 that won't clean up. Thank you, Joe

Joe,

I have used Whitepost on several occasions with good luck.

Hope that helps!

Whitepost did mine last year, had to return it for a slight leak. They fixed the leak and so far everything is good. They had my Master for 4 weeks due to Covid.

I used Karp’s and a Raybestos rebuild kit (and had Steve Gregori plate the cover). Turned out mint.

Somebody else sent me an e-mail about Karp. Thank you, Joe

Sorry Joe, I gave you the wrong info! I actually had Apple Hydraulics sleeve the master. For some reason I had Karp's on the brain, but I had narrowed it down to Karp's and Apple, and chose Apple because they sleeved in brass rather than in stainless. Both vendors had excellent feedback so I don't think you could go wrong with either.

I just sent some original rear wheel cylinders that would not clean up to Karp's last week for sleeves and bought the rebuild kits to re-assemble myself.

I sent two master cylinders, two wheel cylinders and a proportion valve to Karp's back in November and they're still not done so they must be really busy.

Just got my M/C back from Mike Gibbons brake restoration. The lid was done very well but have not yet put the brakes back into service.

I did not realize Mike was doing masters (til now). I was really happy with the service I received on my booster. This site proves it's worth again!

Mike Gibbons does excellent work, and a sponsor on the site. He has expanded what Steve Gregori was offering. Quick turn around and excellent quality and detail!

I think he sends the masters and proportioning valves out. He said I’m at the mercy of the rebuilder with time

I had Brake & Equipment Warehouse here in Minneapolis, MN do mine last summer and they turned it around in a few days, but they might be a little longer on waiting time now. It can hurt to check with them. They did great work. You can reach them at 612-378-3134. When you call you will need to ask for the guys in the shop. I hope this helps you out.

Lonestar Caliper did a phenomenal job on one for me. (I'm going to have another post on how the booster turned out from Mike at Brakeboosters)

For what it’s worth gang, I’m a couple miles away from Karp’s.

Never used them though.

Last place I used was White Post. Lead time was around a month iirc.. This was an unrestored sleeving and rebuild with no restoration. Shipped out the 11th and received it back on the 6th of the following month. Cost was $175 plus shipping. That was just the master cylinder. I did the preservation previously before shipping it to them.

I used White Post for my ‘65 GTO in 2015.

Five factory pieces, all four wheel cylinders and dated master cyl. were S/S sleeved with new seals / boots etc.

Works perfectly.
