I recently purchased an older cast iron two piece scatter shield and have been in discussion with a few people about who actually manufactured these back in the late 50’s, early 60’s.

This is my SBC/BBC bellhousing, made by Wedge in California. It appears that they made them for a few different customers, including Mickey Thompson.....possibly Ansen too? So I thought I’d start a thread to get more information on these obsolete parts.

I found out that it will only fit up to a 10.5” clutch. It’s very heavy, approximately 40 pounds.

Apparently,, they were outlawed around 1964-1965 because they didn’t withstand the higher horsepower and torque from the newer engines spinning a lot more rpms.

This is a cast iron Ansen 5002-B and 5002-T, which appears to be NOS with original Ansen bolts...

I have a 63 Pontiac Catalina 421 HO that is an old race car, primarily street raced. It has thi8s scatter shield on it, cast aluminum. Has a Richmond 4 speed trans. Also has some weird looking traction bars
