Does anybody in the Chicago area know this car? It sold at $31K but has know been relisted. The price seems reasonable to me but maybe there's more here than meets the eye?

[Too Many Projects]

The trans pan looks to square to be a TH400 and the crossmember is too far forward for a TH400 in the frame. Speaking of which in the second pic, I don't see any bolts in the frame to the cross member ??

Having the whole underside and the trunk floor painted to hide the rust is a big red flag to me. Maybe the first buyer backed out once he saw the car in person ?

You're right, needs an eyeballs inspection as the deeper you look, the more appears off.
Pass door looks poorly fit also paint off-tone, maybe whole side messed with?
Too bad w/ the shortcuts as it sure looks like a nice original interior also solid underside.
