That car was sold at Jack Maxton Chev in Columbus OH. Very rare and nicely optioned RS/SS L78. I bought it in 2009 from a local friend who restored it. It had been in his family since 1982. I probably posted pics and history on the site back in that time period.

I thought a curved neck radiator could be ordered with H/D cooling starting around April of '69.

This is a January built car. Is this radiator original to the car?

For some time, when build configuration dictated, Chevy included HD cooling. As of April, it was included when ordering a positraction 3.73 axle [or numerically higher] with an upcharge to $56.90.

Great car. There are not many 69 L78 Converts...Very very rare.

Fewer than 200 total L78 converts - the number of RS/SS L78 convertibles outside of the pacers has to be at most what 50-75 cars total.

For reasons not clear, my 12B car has that radiator, as well. Here is a pic back in ‘81 showing it there. The battery cables indicated a HD battery, as well. Kurt S. Suggested a shortage, and I have to believe that was the case. But the car was sold in the Norwood area and could have been a “favor” done at the plant for someone with connections?
