Very little info around about this axle, but it seems to be for L78 cars.
It is complete but needs a complete rebuild. 3 series carrier with Richmond 3.91 gears...worn badly from poor install. The clutches don't hold pressure, so may need replacing. Axles are trash at bearing surfaces.
Axle tubes are welded and I replaced the repaired/reinforced shock mounts.
Not interested in trying to ship this.
$600 and I can bring with to SCR on the 23rd.
I do have pics on photobucket, but they are down right now for "upgrades". I'll post the pics later, sorry.
My 1970 L-78 October assembled Chevelle came new with this exact rearend dated June 1969,as did many other 1970 L-78 Chevelles.Because these were only produced for the first few months of 1970 production, seems to be more time specific,to use up old stock, then gear specific,as they were used heavily in the years prior.

That's what I have found too, is that they were installed much later than 1968, but the casting date sure looks like F288 to me ??

I cut the shock mounts off and welded on replacements from a donor axle.

Waiting for a quote from Fastenal. They certainly don't seem to be in a hurry to get shipping business.
We do have a pallet at work.

I'm not getting a good feeling about shipping with Fastenal. 2 days and I can't get any response. Their website shows their MAIN HQ is in Dubai...:rolleyes2:

Crickets... I don't understand how it would be so difficult to respond either way, but I won't be pursuing this option.
I forgot to look yesterday, if they set the pallet aside last week. Brain overload with other stuff. I'll make a note and check in the morning.
