His business location is on the block and, frankly, for the location and size, the price isn't unreal. It retains his original paint booth, which is supposed to be grandfathered in. Start your own restoration business...

I don't know. Does Toni's Deli come with it?

Looks like it. Maybe a leased space with income to pay for the building.

Huge billboard for income there too...

Lots of great history there but what could you do w/ it to carry the price/upkeep/taxes?:hmmm:
Museum/Small Shop/Rental facilities for Functions/Auctions would be cool but hard to consider/commit w/ world of late?:dunno:
:beers:

Goerge Barris' daughter is going to open some kind of a museum with her fathers memorabilia at a different location.

Rumors are it will be torn down and made into a strip mall.

A developer would need to acquire more than just that 1/3 acre for a mall...:confused2: Have to be a U shape and very small at that.
The city should register it as a historic site and limit the uses to automotive.
I agree, Pete, the cost of doing business at a profit would seem high, but isn't everything in tinsel town expensive ?

Is that a gas station to the left of the property?

BTW - the asking price is $4 million

Yes, it is.

4 mil for prime, grandfathered, commercial automotive space seems rather reasonable for LA. A person would need to have a huge down payment, or cash to be able to afford the space for automotive work, but there seems to be plenty of multi millionaires lately spending stupid amounts on all sorts of cars. This would be a worthwhile piece of history to preserve and continue using.

The original location from the Kustom heyday is down on Atlantic.

Are strip malls a good investment now?
