I received a private message from a member named “Gaul” that responded to my wanted ad, saying he had the 1970 Chevelle bench seat cover I was looking for. He email me a blurry photo, and then sent me another photo from that same 919-289-9080 phone number (of a completely different seat), d’uh.

Meanwhile, my LS6 Chevelle survivor is still looking for a better seat cover… please excuse the shameless plug. ;-]

I got a message as well. I ask for photos of the item, the DA sent photos of something that was not even close. Be aware.

If you purchase a part from anyone on this site or others even from people you know. make sure the email they give for PayPal matches the person....and stop using pal f and f. unless you are sure of who you are sending money to. just an fyi

Thanks for the heads up guys. Father-in-law got hit by a scammer for a new computer last week.

I ALWAYS google the phone number and email when buying something off someone I don't know.

I would recommend the next time someone posts a scammer, put the name, phone # and email in the heading. That way it comes up in a google search.

Lots of scammers on FB too.

They love WTB posts, they can google and share of what you need, and then make an excuse why they can't use Paypal.

Just got one today for some parts. Not even close to what I am looking for. They were actually aftermarket parts that they photographed off of an old Honda. And every other word on their post was “okay”.

I knew that guy Dotkip was a scammer. He was replying to posts and I thought his replies were strange. There may be other usernames in here that just recently joined and they hang out and make replies to posts then start scamming. They are all foreigners.

Add Paul Hertz to the list. [email protected]. I have gotten this message from him twice regarding the 1100837 I was trying to locate, "hi i got what you needed, let me know if your willing to purchase and for details too." I responded the first time and asked for photos. The ones he supplied were of restamps and appeared though he had just copied and pasted them. I got the exact same message again about 2 weeks later.

What I have done in the past is take the number and go online and sign them up for mortgage quotes, new windows and car warranties. Most sites require a phone and once they have that it becomes relentless as the number gets shared broadly.
Big fan of paying it back to folks like this.
