Correct Fork, bellhousing, clutch for 1969 Camaro

I am having some trouble with my new clutch install. My install is an Muncie M21, '621' bellhousing and 11" clutch behind a 350 sbc. The fork I have for this is the ( 10.4 "in length). when installed it will not center the throwout bearing on the clutch diaphram fingers. After researching this problem I was advised that Chevy used two forks in '69 based on the clutch size/bellhousing used. Theey are: # 3892632 and # 14066235; Per the information I received, clutch fork # 14066235 (which measures 11" in length} was used with the '621' bellhousing and 11" clutch when installed on the higher horsepower 350s Camaros { like a 350/300 hp in an SS}. The # 3892632 fork was installed on other sbcs and ironically the 1969 Z28 as well. If anyone has can shed some clarity on this subject it would be much appreciated. Regards

Hmm, it doesn't sound like the 14066235 (73-81) fork will work without modification based on this post: https://www.camaros.net/threads/clutch-fork-and-firewall.200119/

I went down and looked at my 621 bellhousing and fork destined for my 69 SS350 and measured the fork (no numbers on it :( ) and it measures 10 1/8". When looking down the center it does look aligned, but I hope it is the correct one! I bought it many decades ago!

Thanks, did you fully seat the fork on the ball stud for this picture?

Yes, the Z28 did get the 403 bell for 10.5 clutch and shorter fork.
Are you keeping the bearing centered on the fork ends, or pushing all the way back ? It needs to be balanced on the ends and the spring holds it there until the trans is installed and it rides on the input collar.

All the GM parts books verify this. There are not 2 different forks.
Both bellhousings, the 403 and 621 took the same fork.

Was in the parts biz back in the day. Recall a few guys having problems with a release fork rubbing on the tunnel.

There was another part number for passenger car applications, 3860005.

Thanks for the clarity fellows. Per your post and the pictures above I re-checked mine and it fits just as in the posted pics. I simply had it seated too deeply in the fork opening, not riding on the end of the fingers. My learning experience. Regards
