Looks like this was a fun car back in the day. Back is mini tubbed with what appears to be a 675 HP small block, 2 speed glide and a 12 bolt with 5:38 gears and a spool. Looks like it has a 3 point Lakewood roll bar. I'd think that combo should have it running mid 11's or better?

Originally a KK Emerald Turquoise car with Deluxe Interior. Wonder what it was when it was new and if the 12 bolt is original? No body tags to say anything at all which is weird now days?

According to the Fisher body tag, tinted windows & deluxe turquoise interior is all it had. V8 car. Most likely a 327..Joe

Neat car, didn't know you could fit a stock gas tank with big tires like that, or has it been changed?

Is it just me? Given the prices of 1st gens right now, this looks like a bargain.

Might be a very nice clean car.

Some buyers might not realize the car has ladder bars.

I’m still of the opinion that big tires look killer on a 67-68 vs 69 bc of the shape of the wheel well. One of my very favorites is Grady’s red car with the stinger hood. Goodness gracious.

I'd like to get a look inside that 350 sb making 675hp on a 800cfm quadrajet and no indication of a 200hp Nitrous shot!!!

May have a bit of puffery going on there.

I was thinking the same thing on hp claim. Maybe it's a typo and is supposed to be 475
Interesting interior too. It does have the opera lights of a deluxe, but they must have sold the rest. Now has standard door panels and '68 ? seats.
Pics show original appearing gas tank and spring location, so the tires must fit.

Love this car, wish it was closer to Chicago

Yes, 675 seems like a lot. Years ago I had a '70 Chevelle race car that made close to 600 HP at 8000 RPM with a pretty radical 355 inch small block. No nitrous but heavily modified old school GM heads, tunnel ram, dual 750 cfm 4150's, roller, 14 to 1 compression. Not much power below 6500 rpm! Ran an 8800 rev limiter chip.

Doug Nash 4speed, 5.38 gears. No electronics at all, other than a MSD with a rev limiter. Not very consistent (with me in the seat) but quite a ride-broke stuff constantly (mostly tranny and clutch) but lots of fun!

The previous owner drove better than I and ran real low 10's in the 1/4 or 6.50 in the 8th.
Best run I ever made was a 6.70 in Minot ND.

Sorry if I derailed this thread a bit but I thought a few folks might enjoy the story and pics.

Where is the car, SoCal or AZ? Sounds like a quick flight to me lol.

Looks like quarters are stretched a bit, and I thought I saw a picture of wheel tubs at some point.

Pretty cool car.

Neat car, didn't know you could fit a stock gas tank with big tires like that, or has it been changed?

It still has leaf springs but it's quite possible they have been moved inwards. The tank has also been narrowed and modified for fuel outlet by the looks of it. I would think the rear tubs are tight to the frame rails now or they may have also moved the rear frame rails inward as was done a lot in super stock.

Probably a nice rust free car but the seller needs to put some pics up of the trunk and the floors. I like it.

Went and looked back at the pics, quarters are definitely stretched, looks great with the big tires.

Dan when you buy it you might want to change the fuel pump setup.

Neat car for sure.

675hp should go faster than mid 11s... but 675 with a Quadrajet?? I mean call me a critic but SHOW ME!

Car is not too far from me... would be fun to leave it in as found condition and keep it a race car.

Sounds like the heads were done up right but I'm thinking maybe that the sellers claim on the HP is a bit optimistic.

Maybe someone with interest can ask if there's a dyno sheet or some time slips.

675 at the crank with a small block from the 80s or 90s is not likely with a stock casting 350 block, stock ported heads and is that a quadrajet I'm not a car guy.

A friend just made 750 with a stroked 42x dart little m, aftermarket heads maybe Brodix, and he 's running a 1050 custom built dominator, and running something like a 2 1/8 step headers into 3.5" primaries.

Surprise...being flipped for $35k in the link below.

I can't find the old listing. Wasn't it around $25k?

Unless there was some hidden damage lurking, it was really a good buy at that price.

Guy selling it is a local flipper… my buddy knows the car well. Neat car but pretty rough. Those 32” tires are definitely overkill.

32s for class racing, all about consistency. The quarters on this car have been stretched.

It's a neat car I think it will max out in the mid 20s.

Anyone know which B&M shifter setup that is in original post second pic?

Looks like a B&M Quicksilver with a line loc handle installed.I did the same to mine in Highschool.https://www.summitracing.com/parts/bmm-80683?seid=srese1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAgP6PBhDmARIsAPWMq6k1TTdVvCqxDh3m49Ka A0Uqz4s-SCrJJrwVG1l2i9TEol5Zws4SIY0aAirTEALw_wcB

The car was not raced with the 32s, the flipper put those on there... Car had a 350 with a Val Hedworth quadrajet. The guy Bill Clark on the door had a shop in an LA suburb back in the day. The car was raced locally a lot back in the day, my buddy knows this car well.

What tires were on it before?

32x14.5 aka the "lil bubbas" were popular at least in the later 80s.

Chuck_Burg
02-08-2022, 08:38 PM
From what I was told the car had smaller tires on it when raced by the original owner. I'm guessing you're probably right, it had the bubbas on it later in life judging from the photos. Probably added them after they added the ladder bars sometime in the 80s??? I guess it's never been registered for the street...

It is neat! I wouldn't be surprised if someone paid $40,000 for this.
