I know the ls6 started in December? Isn’t that the earliest known? What would have been the last for l78’s someone asked me that when seeing mine has a 3rd week of November build a question I’ve never seen asked or answered

No, Oliver Pask used to own the Gold LS6 Pilot car which was built 11/19/69 and there is an earlier car than that but the owner would like to stay anonymous for the time being. I (think) the last L78 that I know of was built 12/9/69 but I would have to get into my database to confirm this. Dales L78 registry has several 11/C, 11/D and 12A cars.

Good question,….I’m the lucky guy that owns Oliver’s LS6 and as mentioned earlier , has a 11-19-69 build date , 11C car on the cowl tag , and my L78 Convertible is a 11-20-69 car with 11D on the cowl tag….
Kinda cool, …never thought of that before

In reference to the November 19th Leeds LS6, I have a BS for an L78 that was built a couple of days after at the Leeds plant. You would have thought that after they began producing the LS6 the L78 would have been out but I guess with the build dates so close there must have been overlap.

As far as a timeline, check this out. My car was ordered at the dealer on August 16th, 1969. The date on the Build Sheet is October 14th. Almost two months later. Then it was invoiced out October 23rd. The Lakewood plant to Sulligent, Al where the car was sold is less than 250 miles away.

I guess the point I am trying to make is it would make since that you would or could have some early December L78's based off of a two month lead time having a cut off of October 30th 1969 per the dealer memo introducing the LS6.
